Re: POTUS 45.12: Dan, does it take courage when encountering the covfefe?

No, I'm not. You were well off, but you didn't "feel' like you were upper class. Just cause you weren't living like 1%ers doesn't mean you weren't well off, and while youi try to frame it as "well, we were just regular middle class folk", that does a huge disservice to those who actually are middle class, and getting by with far less than your family did.

Re: POTUS 45.12: Dan, does it take courage when encountering the covfefe?

You're continuing to make the same mistakes. Wealth is not income.

Your insistence that I'm doing a disservice is also hilarious.

Re: POTUS 45.12: Dan, does it take courage when encountering the covfefe?

Your parents were banking coin with that income and if as you say there were no frills such as a cabin, fancy cars, travel, etc. You may not be aware of any wealth but at 160k they sure as heck we're putting a lot away.

Could be. I haven't started asking about their true wealth until recently given their age.

Either way, the academic models on Wikipedia seem to agree with me.

That's the problem with so many people. Get out of academia and start living in the real world.

Parents paid your way through college too, didn't they? You sound like Mitt Romney: "Hey kids, get out there and start your own business, borrow money from your parents if you have to."

Exactly

If dx 's parents didn't have money to lend him to start his own business (owner class) then he was absolutely NOT upper class :)

Re: POTUS 45.12: Dan, does it take courage when encountering the covfefe?

do people here go against the London mayor claiming it was a terrorist attack on the mosque last night? or do americans not care (outside of tD prolly twitting something)?

Those are the only two options? Or is there a C, the mayor is correct?

Or D, it's all partisan pandering, where if the Islamic do it then it has to be accepted, but if the other side does it there has to be extreme government action to remove even more rights?

And to those who think it's a dodge, read my condemnation on the global terror thread.

for some time there are only 2 options, no? with or against.

but is "terrorism" only when brown people attack white people? can whitey inflict terror?
was okc even considered terrorism?

If it was not group-sponsored or inspired, but a purely individual attack, I would classify it as more of a hate crime than a terrorist act. Not much difference, I guess.

mookie would opine that even here in the US, the formerly attacked (freedom loving white-folk :) ) have become a group and if an individual retaliates, then that is group sponsored. so if one of them attacks a mosque??? what's the difference?

not sure of the answer, but if isis blows an ied at an army convoy is it a military attack or a terror attack?

Yes, OKC was considered domestic terrorism.

Just like the attack at the church in South Carolina.

And IMHO, someone attacking to kill a specific group of innocent people to instill fear is terrorism. Individual or not, I think that does not matter.

As for "whitey"- as England if they thought the Irish who spent years terrorizing many parts of the UK what color do they think they are.

If you come across people in the US who defend this moron and call it retribution or revenge, well, I would have a tough time not arguing with them. They are no better than any other supporter of terrorists- I'd call them an American version of ISIS.
