POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

This has almost nothing to do with twitter being the medium. It has everything to do with a new administration acting like state TV in North Korea.

The media is also to blame for this. They could simply ignore the silly tweets and report actual news.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Just because something happens on twitter means the media needs to give it all sorts of attention? I think that is one of the most disappointing things for me with the direction the media has gone in the last 10 years or so. It definitely extends to sports as well. If I want to see what is happening on twitter I can go have a look for myself.

Trump obviously is a liar and has many other personal failings, but how exactly is that different than Hillary? I think now is a good time to post this article again: http://www.newstatesman.com/world/2016/11/hillary-clinton-deserved-lose

It's hard to say how truly popular or unpopular he is. He obviously isn't popular in the areas where a lot of the media resides, but is that representative of the whole country? I'd guess around 30% of people love him, 30% of people hate him, and everyone else is somewhere in the middle.

The march yesterday was a good thing and I think its wonderful you and others got a lot out of it. In the future they should work to be more inclusive though.

Nobody was excluded, and the group you were so worried about is on record saying they were there and it was a good experience.
You aren't going to get away with just saying something over and over when it's simply not true.

Unless you could somehow find two seconds and an ounce of courage to actually read the objective maths measuring how popular or unpopular he is... they are widely available.

It's very difficult though, and it's hard to really blame "the media" at large when Twitter is the highly preferred method of communication of the POTUS. They need to calibrate their filters quite carefully.

When the President of the United States (or his appointed agents) shows the impulsivity and maturity of a 12-year-old, it dam well is news.

False equivalency for the win.

For you to actually believe that they act any different for Trump from anyone else is mind boggling beyond belief.

It IS news that our president has a thin skin and uses twitter like a child who doesn't get his way.

We should have a transparent government, so any time they go out of their way to lower the bar on our country, well, we should know about it.

I'm not saying they are treating him differently.

The media doesn't have to have 5 hours of discussion of a tweet. Report the story, and move on. And you can insert anyone you want in this scenario. What the media calls "news" nowadays is embarrassing.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

They can vote. Or are you planning to go out of your way to prevent people to vote, even more than you do now?

Duh.

These people didn't know they could vote before the election?

How accurate were the polls saying he was going to get smoked in the election? I've seen the results of the polls and even among them they vary quite a bit.

The national polls were more accurate than people give them credit for. They predicted a Hillary win by 3-4 points, and she won by about 2.5.

Even the state polls generally fell within the margin of error. They just all missed in the same direction.

You're right that there is some variability and MOE. But not enough to prevent us from defining him as the least popular president to take the oath. And while we're there, let's just mention that sociopaths do not think of oaths the way you and I do. To Trump, it's no more than a performance.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Does anyone have a source for what times of day each ofthe 2009/2017 national mall photos were taken?

He's at a 41.8 aggregate favorable rating, a 49.9 unfavorable.

Obama ended at 60 and 38. He entered with 68 and 25.

Given that only two presidents since FDR have finished with better approval ratings than they started with, it ain't looking great.
