Potter out at Ohio State

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

If this is true, tOSU went for an up and comer and got themselves a good one. This would be terrific selection as she comes from one the top programs in the country, has head coaching experience and Hockey Canada thought enough of her to involve her with their program. However.....until it is confirmed, it is still speculation. Very, very interesting and as someone else mentioned, this is a good move for women's hockey.

It is a great move for OSU and a smart one for Nadine if true. But if you think Potter was a disciplinarian you ain't seen nothin yet. Ms. M was a hell raiser as a student (she jokes about her being the reason for all the gray hair Coach Hallderson has) who today seems to want to ensure her act is not replayed. No saint worse than a saved sinner. But if true I expect OSU to get a lot better.

I also expect OSU to get better if she's the coach. The five years before Nadine came to the Gophers, they averaged 138.4 goals per season. The five years she was responsible for the F's, the Gophers averaged 192.6 goals per season.

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

I, for one, am getting anxious to hear who it is! I've heard it's Coach Muzerall and I've heard they're going with someone else

Buckeye WHockey twitter hasn't had a tweet since July 7!

As am I...Muzerall certainly makes sense for them but...Maybe they're going in a different direction?

it's one thing to sing praise of her, but you have crossed the line and are giving aid & comfort to the enemy
few at OSU know who Frost is, you could probably count with one or two fingers those who know his assistant coaches are
let 'em solve their own problem without creating one for the Gophers

but as long as we're going with rumor and unsubstantiated claims ...

if she is the new OSU coach, who is the new Gopher assistant?

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

Darwitz could fill the vacancy. Hamline is just a time filler until she can get back home. She can hang around as an assistant until Frost has one bad season (it might be awhile) then Natalie could finally get her dream position. This new AD Coyle guy doesn't mess around. JRobby will be gone soon next is RickyP and there is a good chance DougyL might be gone next year too. Frosty better keep winning chips. New Sheriff in town named Marky Coyle

What will be the alimony to the fired coaches??

RickyP would be expensive probably, but you figure JRobby would be gone for cause.

Darwitz is a cool idea, and what about Krissy Wendell-Pohl, at least as an interim for one season since we're so close to the start of the schedule. Didn't the Pohl's resign from CDH?

I'm glad you mentioned JayRob, am I the only one who sees irony & hypocrisy of the U of MN trying to fire him while at the same time honoring a dead drug addict an honorary degree? The regents have slapped every recent graduate in the face with this move, many worked hard and are saddled with debt they may never be able to repay, and they go and give this anorexic self indulged individual who never set foot in a campus classroom or even appeared in concert a free degree!
The guy killed himself, his ego even prevented health practioners from saving his life, what a loser and poor role model for the university to honor with a degree. If I knew any of the regents went to GWH games I'd bring my diploma with me in case I met any of them in the bathroom so I could let them see me wipe my butt with it. That's what it is now worth that they gave the same degree to this individual.

DougyL? is that a combo platter of Doug Woog and Don Lucia?

If the initial report was accurate you would think an official announcement would have been made by now. Obviously not a done deal, at least not yet.

Re: Potter out at Ohio State

Honestly, Shelfit's comments crossed the line and this isn't the first time he does. His post was totally uncalled for and not humorous to anyone other than himself. It would be good for his access to this forum to be "shelved".

Actually I believe Shelfit's is quoting from comments attributed to former UMD Coach Miller herself as reported by former players. If you look back at some of the articles regarding Miller's contract not being renewed and the lawsuit she has filed for wrongful termination you will find those exact words.

You're confusing two situations.

Shelfit's quote was a reference to what Handrahan had purportedly said to OSU players according to several OSU players at the time of or just prior to his dismissal. No connection to Shannon Miller/UMD at all.
