Poser of the Year -- History

What Priceless is going through with his health is truly horrifying and I wouldn't wish it on anybody. Making jest of it is lower than low. And is completely unacceptable. But his medical condition is completely irrelevant to his general demeanor, which I find to be condescending, demeaning, and with a know-it-all attitude. I understand that some people like that. Personally, I don't. His intolerant views (from the supposedly tolerant side of politics) of religion and of people who have beliefs other than his own I really dislike. Of course, that makes him like many others here. And if they, too, disappeared from USCHO i wouldn't lose any sleep either. I wish him no ill will, I just detest the holier-than-thou, I'm-right-and-you're-stupid attitude that is so pervasive from ALL SIDES these days. Hear this, too: I don't miss Old Pio one little bit. Same coin, different side.
You'll get no sympathy from me. You don't like his posts? Do what everyone else does in that situation, put him on ignore. If you feel his moderating is unacceptable then petition the USCHO Admins. But to completely bully somebody like you did is like you said, the lowest of the low.

Re: Poser of the Year -- History

I speak in general terms:

You can't take the heat? Leave the kitchen. You leave the kitchen? See ya. I'm not for personal harassment, meaning contacting people off the board, etc. If you keep it "in-house?" You get what you give. There are some threads where (to use the current example: Priceless) he and I butted heads. Others, we got along. The same goes with a LOT of posters. Rise above. In this case, unless I'm missing something (besides the whole "kill yourself" thing, which AFAIK was kept to this board), Priceless is over-reacting.

I do not wish him any harm, despite certain world views we disagree on. But, on the other hand, don't sulk. You knew the situation/setting coming into this. It happens. Be a bigger man.

Again, if something happened outside of this board, I will re-assess the situation.

Not related to PoTY, but this happened quite a few years back, and a VERY respected poster, who knew more about hockey (and had soooooo many stories) than any of us, quit. Someone started harassing him via email and on the board, and he quit. I had the honor (yes, it was an honor, he was rather selective of who he met from the board before any of the harassment happened) of meeting him. Still wish he would come back.

RIP the posting career of Puck Swami.

I'm pretty sure Swami was also confronted at a DU game by someone who thought he was being too negative about the team.

I don't know what happens in 99.9% of the D-I side of the forum, so maybe there's something going on over there between Priceless and Uncle Ray. Regardless, what UR said on here, a single jab, wasn't what sent Priceless away. He's done and said as much to others, though using different words. This is something that had to have been brewing in Priceless for a while. I really think he just used UR's comment as a scapegoat for closing his account here. Why leave in such a dramatic and public fashion if not to stir sympathy? It's only a message board, after all.

Re: Poser of the Year -- History

That claim itself could be wrong but I'm certain I recall reading as much here at the time.

I'm racking my brain, and there could have been something like that. I know it took a lot for him to leave the board. And the attacker in question was banninated soon after, IIRC. Many of the normal posters went after the attacker.

It's easy to say "overreacting" when someone is legitimately depressed and/or possibly facing their own mortality.

Priceless and I rarely agree. There seems to be a contingent on here who think he is acting or playing up a condition for sympathy. I have no proof of that, and as far as I know, neither do his detractors.

I can't *ing believe I'm getting involved in this discussion.

I have had threats before. Not to the degree that Priceless has had, and certainly more than the empty threat of an Internet Tough Guy. Eff 'em, I say. They don't matter to me. That's my 2 cents.

Edit: my point is, you know the internet is full of a-holes. Deal with it, or don't fully join.

Bullied, you got to be ****ting me. Some of us have been around long enough to remember priceless as 93 champs, banned or pro1disp kicked off of here for 6 months or something like that. So get off your little pony and get a clue. What Ray said was nothing compared to the crap he has said over the years

You two are two of the biggest *holes I've ever seen.

Takes one to know one.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Brenthoven again.

Nice, balanced perspective, with appropriate qualifiers.

If someone is legitimately depressed and fearful that their own mortality may be imminent, there are plenty of places that would welcome him and assist him. I've been there myself. However, a college hockey message board is not a place I'd choose to get help and sympathy. A cancer survivor's message board might be more appropriate for that.

We can both sympathize with his plight on an emotional level, and question his judgment on a practical level, and those two attitudes don't have to be mutually exclusive. I hope that he gets the help he needs.

Perfect example! :) That's exactly what I'm talking about!

Thanks, Mr. Pot!

Signed, Mr. Kettle.

I take it as an honor that the most pompous, arrogant, condescending, self-important [redacted] on the whole board honors me by including me in the rarefied air which typically he alone inhabits.
