Poser of the Year -- History

Kepler

Si certus es dubita
The search function only runs back to 2010. Beyond that we either rely on memory or somebody's records:

Code:
[B][U]Year Champion Runner Up Votes [/U][/B]
2010 Brenthoven Bakunin 15-15* (won tiebreaker)
2011 Old Pio FlagDUDE08 31-23
2012 Ralph Baer bigblue_dl 32-28
2013 Rover FlagDUDE08 21-18
2014 Priceless FlagDUDE08 17- 9

I know Dude Love came in second in 09, although he mistakenly put in his signature that he won.

Re: Poser of the Year -- History

I wonder how many were voting for Priceless and how many were voting against me...

Some might have been voting based upon Priceless loudly proclaiming at some point last year that he was taking his ball and going home when he got into a debate where he started losing. People were picking on him or something. :(

I was hoping to at least figure out the early winners from the sig lines. Any idea when it started?

In fairness, there was a poster who went way over the line in some of his comments towards priceless around that time. Frankly, I thought it was ban worthy.

I remember he deleted all of the threads he started and left the board for a few months.

I don't recall that part. If it was one of the usual suspects, then he should've just shrugged it off because look at us around here. Who takes any of the actual banter portions of these threads seriously?

I can't remember who it was or the exact comments made, but they dealt with his long standing medical issues. I just remember reading them and having a "whoa, not cool dude" reaction.

Wasn't it Sloe Vag? And I could be wrong, but I could've sworn that was closer to two years ago.

That may have happened too, but I could have sworn it happened again in the last 6-8 months or so. Seemed like it came up during the Ferguson discussion, but I can't remember for sure.

If it did, there wasn't a mass deletion of threads.

I don't recall who made the comments either, but if my recollection is anywhere near accurate, the gist of the comments was something like "quit beeching and moaning about your problems, you are posting on-line all the time, just get a job where you work on-line for pay" or something like that but expressed a bit more, um, "bluntly."

The "Great Purge of 2010" wiped out a lot of the older posts. Gone were all of the hall of fame threads too. Google's cache feature helped rescue what a few of us needed at the time (I saved most of the 9/11 thread). But the rest has been lost over time.

I do wonder what future generations will do when they try to look back upon the past and find a giant void in documented history starts near the year 2000.
