TDay was great. Shared some mead (which my parents loved) had a well-rounded meal. Thankfully, my mom put me in charge of the mashed potatoes. Hers are lump and lack garlic. Well, enough garlic to have a flavor. I corrected that. Funny moment: she brought out the egg-beaters. Um, no. I'm blue collar. Strong hands. These mofos are gonna be smooth as silk when I'm done with 'em. :D

I am both thankful for an uneventful day at work, and a little annoyed. My job is to fix broken tech, but it's my day to watch my group's email inbox and then parse out the work as needed. Normally, Black Friday is a slow day, but the DJIA broke 30k on Tuesday which means that today should be pretty busy. See, normally when the DJIA hits new records it's accompanied by a huge rush of people putting up buy and sell trades. Oddly enough, our applications are handling the increased volumes without worry so far. Very strange.

All of that leads to me reading the science thread on page 2, and seeing the link to the neutrino article, which then had me thinking of Einstein, and then my German lessons from high school - how by my sophomore year I recall waking up from dreams I had in German. That then the notion hit me that I've forgotten most of what I learned, which in turn pressed upon me how long it's been since I was in high school.

"I'm getting too old for this ****."

Ditto, but annoyed we are even open, at least past 2pm.

Had the usual morning slog of work, no problem. 2pm-5:15pm I picked 10 boxes total. TOTAL. Boss is telling me "sweep, sweep, sweep" the warehouse. YOU CAN ONLY SWEEP SO MUCH. Let's just say I did a lot of crosswords in the book I bought on Wed after work, knowing what today would bring.

Good afternoon Lodge!

Belated Happy Thanksgiving!

Spent yesterday delivering Turkey dinners to my Mum and Godmum. the mr got a call last night they are shut down- before they played Typhoid Mary PC. So he is housebound for 14 days or until they sort out what Contact trace is what. Whhhhheeeee!

We decorated the 'little' Christmas tree last night. We usually go cut a live one at a farm this weekend but mr les is in quarantine so waiting game.

Did he get tested?

Crazy wind and rain this afternoon. The water in my toilets was swishing around on its own.

Yikes. The toilet thing would freak me out.

He has to get tested a bunch because that is protocol. It is a cf as far as what is happening because the CDC just changed the rules (not because it is a medical reason but because Americans whine and don't follow rules) so now there are 3 sets of rules- the CDC, the DPH and the school. Sigh. I am just glad he is out of commission. It keeps him safe.

I might put up my Charlie Brown tree this year, just because everything else is so locked down, I need a little something for variety. And as I typed that, I knew it sounded really bad.

For Christ's sake, I stood in line for an hour last Sat just for a beer release (which the waiting-for was completely un-needed) just to get a taste of what pre-pandemic USED to be like. Sat in my lawn chair, reading the paper, etc. I miss standing in line and BSing with others. It's a ritual, a rite. And the pandemic ruined that.

Working thru the whole end of semester thing. Good Glory. Students now have an attitude I would never have dared to think of. What they haven't realized is it will take a lot more than being passive aggressive and implying I shouldn't expect them to do what they are told to do. It is taking every thing in me not to tell them after dealing with manipulative pts for a few decades they are amateurs.
