Work is bonkers here. Frantically getting the COVID vaccine prep done and also working on implementing a new integrated telehealth video client. Also a new system downtime application. And changes to the CPT codes we use to bill (good ol CPT 99201 is going the way of the dodo). And a new process for documenting procedures that had to be stopped for whatever reason (so that it triggers all the re-scheduling workflow again). And a new interface with a local community health organization.

Probably like 10 more too.

Excellent time to change CPT codes. Who in their right mind changes stuff like that in the middle of an all hands on deck crisis? (Rhetorical question)

2 Clinicals finished. One left.

Training hundreds of providers - now, while half of them are doing this from home - on how to navigate the even-more-complex alchemy that is medical billing is positively asinine to me. I put off much of the work hoping that it would be delayed but here we are 28 days from the changes and it hasn't been delayed (and apparently, absolutely won't be).

It's ridiculous.

Oh, I forgot. We're also required to document social determinants of health in rather substantial detail now. Adherence is going to be... "problematic".

Rather than think about this I will just be thankful I got out. Medicine is no longer medicine. It is business and that model is doomed to fail. The pandemic should just hasten the process.

Speaking of medicine. A provider tried to bill my insurance for some tests from March, in November. They were denied.

someday we need to get to 1 bill. Figure out the payouts to various providers on the backend. Dont involve the patient in that BS.

They did that to me when lil was born- billed about 6 months later and were rejected by insurance. They tried to bill us instead. They couldn't but it was a heart stopper to deal with.

Good Morning Lodge!

Last day of zooming for Clinical. It is weird. There is no way to have closure. I just sort of sign off the last time. Very strange.

Yeah insurance companies give you 90 days to bill. After that? Nope. The provider/hospital is on the hook. Sure, they can try to dump it off onto the patient but the patient is not technically liable for a bill that the provider/hospital did not submit in time.

Evening, Lodge.
Crappy week at work. OT every day, and today we found out that our company is on Brown's list where they are restricting the number of packages we give them. Wheeee. Had to hold back about 2hrs' worth of stuff today, but obviously that will snowball every day until we're off the list. Ugh.

Good Evening, Lodge!

We did go to my parent's house for Thanksgiving and taking every precaution. My dad was not happy to stay out of the bars for 2 weeks, but he knew if my mom did not see her grandson, she would kill him. All of us took Covid tests before and after. All came back negative. Seeing Baby wore Black with Grandma was worth it. Especially when she was able to get him to sleep. Grandma snuggles for the win. It was funny watching my parents fight over who gets to hold the baby.

Good morning Lodge!

Started the day listening to mr les make multiple phone calls [insert pic of the cartoon character trying to plug leaks in the dyke while more and more leaks pop thru].

oh, and they are predicting very heavy snow so they expect we will lose power. Whee. THis is probably good for my sanity as the students are going to kill me from frustration

The forecast has gotten progressively worse. I’m going to move my car to the T garage now. It’s just raining here now but I don’t want to deal with cleaning my car off tomorrow and shovel my spot. With the car out of the spot, they’ll plow it when they come by in the morning.

It just switched over a bit ago- flakes are huge and it started sticking way faster than I thought it would. I went for a walk and had to turn back

Yeah, just talked to my mom. She said the same thing. Still just raining down here. Hoping my Opposite Girl powers are on and that because I moved my car to the garage we won’t get anything here. Or, hardly anything. City just called to say they’re not declaring a snow emergency but will continue to monitor.

FOr awhile the flakes were half the size of my hand. The wind is howling.

From what I've been hearing, it'll be a true Nor'easter. I am flyoverland, so what do I know? ;)
40s here. In Dec. And the temps are expected to hold throughout next week. I'll take it.
