Lightning and thunder (just once) here. Yes, it's snowing. Might just take the side roads for my short commute. I have a feeling that the other drivers.........oops, I mean roads, are crap.
This is why I'm waiting for all of those other drivers to get into work before I leave. ;)

Morning Lodge.

To everyone at the Frozen Four and everyone cheering from home, have fun.

I have a fun/crazy schedule for the rest of the week. Band rehearsal tonight (and finding time to watch hockey). Tomorrow, softball game at 4, going to a play at 8. Saturday stand in line for sale ~ 6 am. Expect doors to open around 7. Out by 9, possibly breakfast with friends after sale, get rental car (*sigh*), drive to Pittsburgh.
Last night was supposed to be my free night/chance to sleep. Ended up going to a commitee meeting, playing trivia and made it home at midnight.

You have email.
You now have email as well. Thanks for the heads up. I rarely check that e-mail address...I gave USCHO my spam account.

Re: Poll: Rep Retirement Lodge #165: Spring Has Sprung!

A good morning to the Lodgers! Happy Frozen Four to you travelers!

I'm having a hard time figuring out who to cheer for in this one. My innate western bias leads me to support St. Cloud State, while my love of NCAA hockey history points toward Yale, as far as I can tell the oldest D-I program out there (playing since 1895). My duty as a friend is to cheer for UMass-Lowell, since a buddy of mine is in charge of the Air Force ROTC program there, while Quinnipiac is the Mohican word for "Hail to the Victors". So this is a tough choice.

I suppose I'll cheer for whichever team's victory helps Michigan the most in the Pairwise.

Has anyone seen the link to the Pairwise calculator lately?

Hey Lexicon Boy, Better check your dictionary one more time. Quinnipiac is the Mohican word for "go schedule Appalachian State again." :D:eek::D

Re: Poll: Rep Retirement Lodge #165: Spring Has Sprung!

So, I downloaded Caught in the Act last night, listened to it some last night, and some more during my drive in this morning (yes, I did actually go in to work eventually). It does a pretty good job of capturing the feel of an Eric Church concert, but there are alot of things that I think you'd miss if you haven't actually seen a concert. For example, the start of Springsteen, the piano solo is actually EC sitting in the middle of the stage playing the piano and singing with one single spotlight on him. Sinners Like Me is EC sitting on a barstool with an acoustic guitar with the spotlight on him. Much of the other stuff shows through, like how much he engages the crowd, except you don't get as much of the feeling of how genuine he is, and the feeling that he absolutely loves what he's doing and his fans like you do at the show. All of this is to be expected, obviously you can't get all of that on an audio recording, so considering that, I think the CD is pretty dang excellent. My only complaint is that Carolina isn't on it. That is one of my favorites, and of the 3 EC concerts I've been to, it has only been played once, in Mankato. I could do without Jack Daniels or Country Music Jesus, and would rather hear Love Your Love the Most or Ain't Killed Me Yet or 2 Pink Lines or Hell on the Heart or Like Jesus Does(this wasn't a hit when this CD was recorded, understandable) or What I Almost Was, but overall, its good.

edit: also, one thing that the non-country fans might notice, many of the live versions of the songs have a very "rock" feel, especially any guitar solos. Including what I believe is a guitar that sounds like a part from an ACDC song as an intro to one of them. I do like the live version of Springsteen when he always cuts in a few verses of an actual Springsteen song.

My supervisor just sent out the list of tasks and responsibilities for this year (we discussed it several months ago, so it isn't really late, he's just sending it out late). Under my name, all of the crap I'm responsible for adds up to being the work of 2.7 headcounts, the next closest is the guy I work all the time, on many of the same projects, at 2.1 headcounts. No one else is over 2. But yet, they are hiring 3 new people to reduce the workload of the diesel team, and the 2 of us working gas are doing the work of 5 people.

Afternoon Lodge! Been up since about 8:30. Took a long walk to breakfast. It was great. Food was excellent. Walked all the way back. Going to jump in the shower and then scope out Frozen Fest,me hitch is right across the street. Then do a little pre- gaming at the hotel before heading over to the game. It's sunny and muggy so I would imagine we will have more late afternoon storms.

Someone needs to beech slap that beetch Mother Nature.

In 5 minutes I get to drive to dwtwn Mpls to pick up wife for a kid's teacher conference -- the conference is up near Bandana Square, so I get to drive all the way back. Then of course when the conference is over it's back across the river to Murderapolis all over again and then back home. (This is because we're so smart and only have one car.) At least it's looking mostly melted at this point. (Famous last words.)

Next day he played in Sioux City I believe, and a friend of mine there said he didn't play Carolina. (After Mankato)

I totally agree with Carolina and Hell on the Heart. He played Love Your Love the Most in Mankato, IIRC. Carolina is one of his best songs ever.

He also played Chevy Van in Mankato, which is not very common. Overall, that Mankato concert was excellent, better than the 2 previous times I'd seen him (Target Center and State Fair Grandstand)

It's left me wanting to see him again, no question. That was so awesome.

You sure it was Mankato he playe Chevy Van?

Yeah. He said "I wasn't planning on playing this one, but I just heard someone yell for it, so here it goes..." then he played it. Maybe he didn't play the whole thing, it could have been just one verse.
