Re: Poll: Rep Retirement Lodge #165: Spring Has Sprung!

Not everything's like engineering school, you know. "No activities, no social skills, no jobs held, in fact no real world experience whatsoever; but an 800 on the math SAT, so he's in." :D
I didn't even take the SAT's. But I did get a 35 on the math portion of the ACT's. Actually, going into college I had activities, job experience, real world experience, and yes, even a small amount of social skills. :p

And I thought my 31 on the math was good....

Good Morning lodge. Two classes and the weekend. Gonna catch up on a few things and do my taxes this weekend. Yippee!

Re: Poll: Rep Retirement Lodge #165: Spring Has Sprung!

You weird mid-westerners and your ACT scores. It made it hard for me to have a **** measuring contest with my nerd friends at college.
a) because I'm female and lack that particular piece of equipment
b) because most of the students had taken ACTs and I had taken SAT.

Does the basketball team also have striped helmets? ;)

No. The over protective parents/society/law suit happy lawyers have not yet required basketball players to wear helmets.

That, and they're too busy trying to look like highlighters to mess it up with multiple colors on a helmet.

My niece/goddaughter has her admissions interview at UMass-Lowell today. If they screw her, I will be wearing a Yale jersey next Thursday. Just sayin'.

I can get an eggplant into Lowell and graduate on time... That is all (unless she wants to be an engineer... That's tougher.)

Edit: wT, since you are female you have the ultimate trump in that you can make the nerds incoherently stammer

Not me, man. That's the beauty of going into music. It's just like with athletes. They don't care about any of that stuff, just that you can play.

Hey now. In Indiana it was SATs. Don't lump us in with them others!

My son applied to North Dakota....pretty sure the acceptance letter arrived before the app ever made it to Grand Forks. :D

Oh. And I hear they screwed with the SATs, as I heard some kid got higher than a 1600. How's that even possible?!
That was a few years back. A 1400 these days is around the equivalent of a 1200 from when I was in school.

That's kinda BS, IMO. Was it some stupid attempt to make kids feel better about themselves?

My high school offered the SAT, I think about 4 out of my class of 300 took it.

They did the same thing to the ACTs, but the top score didn't change. It's just easier to get a top score now. And I'd have to find the articles, if I actually cared to do it, but the changes were made because kids were saying that the tests were too tough, too difficult to get a good score. Basically, it's grade inflation at its finest.

That describes me pretty closely. :D (I did have some worthless activities, and my first job was after my senior year was over.)
