Playoff Results 2021

Sports are so strange. Of all the games to have a 3 goal lead this early in the game... not the one we would have picked.

I should have stuck with 3-2. OSU’s going to be bummed if they review the tape and see the missed scoring chances. Also thought Muzz rode that top line a bit more than she should have. The third line seemed to be producing the best chances.

I think the key takeaway there - for me, anyway - is that they are going to play an NCAA championship game for the 20th time on Saturday, and Mark Johnson has gotten his team to that game NINE TIMES now.

BTW: The referees for the Wisconsin - Ohio State game tonight were from Hockey East. In fact, the same pair worked the HE championship game between Northeastern and Providence two weeks ago.

And given that he'd have had a hard time getting his team to the tournament in 2001, 2002, or 2010, because he wasn't coaching one, he has nine of his 17 teams in the final. Not too shabby.

Well it's taken me this long to get out of my mood to post so let me start off by saying congratulations to Wisconsin on the win.
I think in their win they covered the two most important fundamentals - coaching and execution. Wisconsin knows us well enough to not get caught by our defense trapping them deep by using the quick passes before we can establish coverage and it seems their game plan was to set it up to get the puck to the open side of the net neutralizing our goaltender. On the second goal for the Badgers on the slo mo replay close up you could clearly see Ohio State's players eyes were locked on the puck and not seeing Wisconsin getting into position for the pass to the far side until it was too late. Also the same pattern of officiating seemed present as it had all tournament where the whistles went silent by the 3rd period which I think Wisconsin took advantage of with a more physical game than they could get away with in a regular WCHA game which really worked well with a player like Curl. OSU was unwilling to get that physical risking a penalty when down in the score.
OSU certainly had their chances but when you whiff on the puck on a wide open net you blew your best chances. We just seemed slightly off in our game and at this stage near perfection was required to advance.

This really was a game of inches for OSU. They just missed either the net or getting the puck settled on their sticks a few times. Puck luck seemed against them.
