RMU wins the CHA tourney with a 1-0 win over Syracuse. Really entertaining game. Raygan Kirk is back in net for RMU, so perhaps she was hurt previously. First tournament championship for this group of seniors. Goal went to defender Gillian Thompson who pounced on a puck that bounced off the boards behind the net and came out at a weird angle. Thompson got to the puck first and made good on her chance while Small tried to get across the crease. Small played great, as did Kirk, tons of shots in this game.

Really tough loss for Syracuse who had two absolutely golden chances to score in this game where Kirk was beat and empty net was waiting. 1 of these chances was in the final seconds of the game. Sports are brutal.

Except when they’re not of course. RMU, who finished the regular season on a down note with 2 losses to Cuse, and dropped to the third seed, just punched their ticket to the NCAA Tourney.

If you look up in the night sky tonight you will see UMD slowly soaring by in low-earth orbit

Soderberg picked a bad day to have a bad day. As long as they made me pay for "a month" of FloHockey, I went back and watched some of last week Duluth vs Wisconsin, and Soderberg was stopping everything.

The sinners vs the yuckeyes...I have developed an equal dislike for both entities. So much so, that my dream scenario is a perpetual 0-0 tie that never ends. Something like a Ground Hogs Day except without the sappy ending of becoming something better. They get stuck in an infinite loop because there is no redeeming qualities for either of these two entities. A parallel universe (hey it's my dream) develops where the good news is...2 spots open up for this year tournament (great for those teams on the bubble and Northeastern). The bad news is we lose Ridder arena to the infinite loop but it's Minnesota, the state of hockey...We'll adapt.

UMD looked like Shannon's team from 2005 that emptied its tank hosting No. 1 in the final week of the regular season and had zero left for the postseason.

Are the Buckeyes getting any transfers who will score at a similar pace?

Maybe not at that pace but they're going to get better.
As will most teams having numbers of talented seniors who choose to return for another season. But that's a whole different discussion and worthy of a separate thread.

Without working at it, I know of three playoff teams - Minnesota, BC and Robert Morris - who have transfer players playing for them.

But none of these other teams have transfers who scored all their teams' goals in their league playoff championship game, with one being named the 'Player of the Game'. Obviously they have had an enormous impact on their team's fortunes, and not in just this one game. Of course it's perfectly legal...just pointing it out.

(you guys haven't pointed out that Wisconsin's goalie is also a transfer.)

Transfers are a fact of life these days - you should watch women's volleyball. LOTS of them there. Get better transfers.
