Plattsburgh State Hockey 2015-16 - Bob's 27th work in progress ...

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2015-16 - Bob's 27th work in progress ...

With both the men's and women's teams playing so well and ranked #2 and #1 will there be the same thing that happened last year in the NCAA tournament? It would certainly **** if the men had to travel for a quarter final game similar to last year traveling to Trinity. The men's quarter final games are scheduled for March 19th while the women's Frozen 4 is on March 18th and 19th.

Get rid of the women's 3rd place game and the problem takes care of itself.

Better chance of the Senate confirming a SCOTUS nominee in 2016... For more entertainment on this topic, checkout the Facebook thread set up to celebrate the history of the men's program...its getting kinda heated...:mad::D

Link?

Also, if we have the same situation as last year I hope they make the exact same decision. How could anyone deny the ladies a chance to three-peat on home ice?

So what you're saying is screw the men over again...yea thats logical.....

Unlike the fans, the NCAA isn't allowed to favor the men over the women.... Final Four > Quarterfinal game. That's just a fact that isn't going to change.

And why should the women be screwed over and out of a third straight national championship at home?

And I think it is very logical for a school to want to host a third straight final 4 and potential third straight national championship instead of hosting a quarterfinal game for a team that hasn't won an NCAA tournament game since 2010.

You're right because womens hockey is so much better than mens. I forgot all 300 womens fans would be upset...

And 2010? If it wasn't for the men's team(s) and high tradition, I doubt there would even be a woman's team. So please, spare me. There's a reason why womens hockey only averages a couple hundred fans (if lucky) to the mens 6 to 7 times that....

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2015-16 - Bob's 27th work in progress ...

That had nothing to do with it

It has everything to do with it. They might be risking Title IX problems if they put the women on the road for a championship so the men could have a home first round game. If the situation was reversed, the women would be on the road. I'm curious... Why do you think the college hosts the women's tourney to miss out on a sold out men's game?

Because certain people didn't have the right answers at the right time, put up his hands and said okay let's just have the womens tournament. The NCAA gave Plattsburgh the option, Plattsburgh Administration chose the womens FF over the mens game. It had nothing to do with Title IX or Quarterfinal vs Championship as it relates to the NCAA. Plattsburgh not having their ducks in order (paperwork filled out with the alternative practice times / places) and Administration giving the weekend to the girls. This notion that the NCAA told Plattsburgh it was hosting the womens and that's that is false.

I am trying to stay positive about the womens team and women's hockey in general. There is a reason why the womens teams play at 3 and 4pm if the men are home. There is a reason why the best womens teams only average a couple hundred fans. There is a reason why Plattsburgh only loses a few games every so often. I am thankful for the schools and the NCAA for giving women the opportunity to continue to play the game of hockey as my 4 year old loves going to watch William and Smith and loves when they come help at their practice in the early morning.

But saying a women's championship is > than a men's quarterfinal....as I said, there's a reason why the womens game hasn't become like the mens.

Now having said that, the NCAA who sits there spouting fair play, neutral play, all about the athletes yadda yadda, could have embraced the idea of a great hockey weekend (granted Plattsburgh Administration messed up on their part too) but instead it was nothing short of a public 1-finger salute to Emery and the men's team. Now I am not going to get into the could'a would'a won. Fact is the PSU Administration and the NCAA dropped the ball on what WOULD have been a great weekend of hockey at the Stafford.

No one is saying that. You missed the point entirely. Also, please don't insult my Cards! A loyal Cardinal fan here is seeing RED!!!

What about the senior men that want to try and change that and win a tournament game for their first time and go to Lake Placid to try for a National Championship? Should they get denied that chance for the 2nd time in their 4 years so the women and can try and win another championship on home ice. Besides the Freshman, the women's team have had the chance to play for the championship on home ice. I think the men's team should be afforded the chance to also play on home ice one last time.

The fact is that BOTH teams should have been given and BE given the chance to play on home ice IF it was earned. The NCAA always wants to be "fair", so allow it, period. A fair schedule should be given and the NCAA should approve it. Nothing more, nothing less.

The two ties this weekend may have hurt Plattsburgh's chances of hosting a quarterfinal game. They could end up hosting a first round which would be on a weeknight. This whole conversation could be moot.

First round of the Men's NCAA Tournament is on a weekend, the same weekend as the women's quarterfinals (but there's no reason for THAT to be a conflict)

Yes I forgot they moved the first round to a weekend a few years back....but if the men don't host a quarter...it won't be a conflict anyway

I completely agree with you, it should be that either one game in the afternoon the other game at night or 1 game Saturday the other Sunday but as we found out last year that will not happen. So if the Men's team do end up hosting a NCAA tournament game what is the fair way to go, for me it is the men host and the women go on the road.

Perhaps this is the perfect year for the committee to send the tournament West with Adrian having a really strong season. Has to go West either this year or next year by rule.
