Lots of cornfields too and thus (in season anyway) scads of Canada Geese and Snow Geese.

One very early spring morning-while working the dreaded overnight on the ferry dock-a young lady told me "there must be 40 deer back there in the road and I had to do something". My reply was that I didn't have my rifle with me that day !! But I don't think that was the reply she was looking for !!!

A couple of observations about the Cards vs Midd:

Probably the smallest crowd I have ever seen at a Middlebury home game. Wonder if the fact that Midd's record is less than spectacular is a cause of attendance being off?

And, while the officiating wasn't bad overall, the disallowed Card goal in the first period was a really bad call. The puck was clearly in the net and there clearly was no whistle before the puck rolled across the goal line. Since I am a Cardinal Fan, folks are going to say I'm just bitter, but I would disagree. It was clearly a blown (no pun intended or implied!) call.

The official behind the goal line clearly pointed for a goal. Who else would have blown the play dead? The official at the blue line must lose the puck a million times during scrums down low. I would think that's the lower official's call. The officials looked bad the way they handled it...

I had no idea how serious you fine folks from the Champlain Valley are about things. I was driving thru Potsdam today and what did I see pulling out of the Arby's parking lot? A CVPH ambulance......I literally laughed out loud.

Got to mention the Lady Cardinals defeated Oswego 7-0 to go 17- 0- 0. Season total goals scored 93 - given up 8 :eek:

They play Oswego again today at 3.

Game ended with the Lady Cardinals winning 5-0 - Season total goals scored 98 - given up 8 :eek: :eek:

Equally impressive is goalie Camille Leonard's 11 shutouts in 16 games! 7 Straight! Naturally, offense is the best defense, and the Cards have plenty of offense, but she is sharp when tested.
