Plattsburgh State Hockey 2012-13 - Season 24

Tell me please because I want to know: how does the president of a state university make a statement, decision, whatever about said state university going private? Is he not an employee of the state?

The statement was made during a new student event at Geneseo. It may have been convocation - I don't know what the title of the event was. A family member is a freshman at Geneseo this year.

Maybe it was just "blowing smoke" and trying to get the new students psyched up. Tough to say for sure what the context was.

I am proud to be a SUNY alum and would support Geneseo staying SUNY for the rest of its existence.

Either way, not anything happening anytime soon so I am content to stick with hockey talk right now.

Well only one team needs the Pool C, and saying that both teams are at 0.0% just isn't accurate. Utica dropped a tie this weekend which if combined with the possibility of dropping a game to Hobart in their championship could put in jeopardy a Pool C for them. Over the past few years, the selection committee has shown some favoritism towards SUNYAC teams in regards to Pool C bills.
Plattsburgh's chances for a Pool C would require a lot of higher-ranked teams to have some ill-timed losses, but it is still possible. Oswego's chances would only require a couple high-ranked teams to have some ill-timed losses.

Admittedly, neither team has a great chance anymore, but it's not accurate to say neither team has a chance. After all, the ncaa selection committee was been known to make a couple head-scratcher decisions here and there.

Is there always a chance of a head scratcher of a decision to give either Oswego or Platty a Pool C? Sure. But if you look at the numbers, Oswego's SOS is dismal. Their record against other ranked teams is even worse. They have a great win % and that's weighed heavily. But I just can't see how either the Lakers or the Cards could be given a pool C. If Utica and/or Hobart tanks, there are other teams that may still have better numbers than Oswego.

And this is assuming that everyone else who is supposed to win their AQ, does so. If any of them are upset in their conference tourneys, it's lights out.

The best you can say, is that the NCAA $election Committee has applied emphasis to "What have you done for me lately?" a$ well a$ the potential impact for dollar$.

There is no more tanking....its one and done period. The most a team can now get is one more loss. Oswego at best would go 1-1 with that one win being over a non ranked team.

OSU v AMH: AMH 3-1
OSU V BAB: 2-2
OSU V CAS; CAS 3-1
OSU V WIL: WIL 3-1
OSU V NOR: NOR 4-0
OSU V BOW: BOW 2-1

OSU V HOB: OSU 3-2 but close
OSU V PSU: PSU 3-2 (Just saying)

Even if they rank Geneseo yes it gives Oswego two wins and maybe 1 loss (I dont see them ranking Geneseo this week) so they (Genny) would have to win the SUNYAC to be ranked. Oswego would then better hope to lose in the semis then. Even two more rnk wins would still add a "L". Hobart would add a L to common opponents and rnk. I have a feeling we see Oswego drop heavy this week. I could see out of Top 5.

First look at this and I said earlier Oswego turnovers could be the killer. I was right as there were two that resulted in Platty goals. Someone said Hare had a bad game; didn't see it. Both questionable goals appear to be screens. The save on the 3rd period breakaway was stellar. Is it the video or does Plattsburgh look small this year? No matter, they got it done... again.

Agreed. The body of work just isn't there this year.

The ONLY way Oswego has a very outside chance at a Pool C is if all of the following happen....even then it will be a very outside chance....

~Norwich, Adrian, SNC/Wisconson-EC and Bowdoin win their AQ
~Hobart loses to Naz or Elmira in the Semis of the ECAC-W (This helps COP for Oswego vs. Hobart)...even if Hobart loses to Utica/Neumann, this helps Oswego with RvsR and/or COP.
~Oswego loses to non-ranked opponent in the Semis of the SUNYAC (Potsdam, Buff State, Fredonia)
~Geneseo wins the SUNYAC and gets Ranked
~Williams & Amherst lose early and preferably to a Ranked team in the NESCAC
~Babson loses early (preferably to UMASS-Boston or Castleton) in the ECAC-E

If ALL of this happens, Oswego may have an outside shot at a Pool C...but I still doubt it! :p

Yup, a small team. One of the quickest I've seen here in awhile

Some good Plattsburgh/Oswego banter on here tonight (past and present). And a good job by WIRY color man Rob Knowles last night recognizing the onliners for their affirmation. I wish Ducky would call the Coach out on this weekly "online experts" nonsense! Getting a little old already!
That is getting old.....
