Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

The direction that this thread has gone has gotten plain silly, especially as it relates to transfers. As far as I know, it is up to the player to initiate contact if they wish to transfer from a DI program to a DIII. It would be tampering for the DIII coach to do so. As long as Gosek isn't out there trolling (old fishing term) for transfers, there is no problem here.

Furthermore, as long as a school isn't doing what Genney and Buff State were doing, FA packages are not built differently for hockey players than any other student. If it's more attractive for a hockey player to go one school than another because of FA, it would be the same for a non-hockey player with similar credentials.

I've taken it as an old fashion version of the childish "I know you are, but what am I?” Oswego and Plattsburgh are two storied programs who both have more than their share of enticements. Such banter is a requirement of enthusiastic sportsmanship, albeit silly at times. IMO, most DI to DIII transfers are the product of insufficient game time and/or as they say in the military, an “incompatible environment”. How do they choose where to transfer? Easy, most read the forum on USCHO and make up their mind a few lost souls do some research, consult their friends and former teammates/opponents look at the schools, their athletic departments/programs and the academic programs offered, and then take the best option they can afford – monetarily and self-satisfying.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

There are a few names missing from the Plattsburgh roster right now.... Kavanaugh, Devereau, and Neitse have all left the team. I'm hearing that Kavanaugh along with Devereau will be transferring to Curry. I also have it on good authority that Ian Delong is leaving the team for Curry as well. I guess we'll see what happens come Dec.31!

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

why is devereaz leaving i thought he was injured? and delong i thought he was injured? and now i see y we r getting a d1 trnsfer anymore news tht we could expect

Who is devereaz?? are you talking about Devereaux or Neitsch....Just as Bob described it...Devereaux hasn't had much playing time, was 20lbs over what coach wanted, and had an injury at the beginning of the season. Not sure he was up to speed for Cardinal hockey. Neitsch...rumor has it that Bob made it known he would have a hard time cracking the Cardinal lineup from the start, but wanted to try anyways. Kavy seemed more of an issue between a coach and playing time. Delo, from what I've heard is more for playing time. Either way all three will be great additions to the Curry squad and should help them out immediately.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Thanks for clearing that up... so i wonder who we replace these guys in terms of roster... we picked up one transfer anymore out there? jw

as of right now all I've heard is the forward from Niagara. I wouldn't be supprised to see a defensemen added during the break.... The Cardinals are down to just 7 D on the roster so I would plan to see 1 more added.

You're being far too practical. The Platty fans are just ****ed they aren't in first and are looking for excuses, which is great considering it's December. This transfer talk has made it even more comical. Yeah, I'd go play at Wego too seeing the fans actually make some noise, the scoreboard works and the goal judges arent waving ping pong paddles with glitter puff paint on them every time a puck goes in.

I still am waiting for someone to start whining about the Eastern team that dings guys for all of $600 a year that doesn't whiff Wego or Platty in the win column. Carry on...

Did your flux capacitor fail and leave you stuck somewhere in time? Have you been stuck on the Discovery One? Visiting a planet of apes? Do you know ANYTHING about hockey??? Obviously not, Plattsburgh fans are NOT looking for excuses - at least not yet, they are still a work in progress. Maybe, once we are ready, and find we are not number 1, THEN we might be looking for excuses...

Was there a "Behind the Bench" last night? If so, did Emery make any mention of it?

Curry it seems has always been very open to transfers. It's a decent team in a weak league that has a good shot of making the NCAA Tournament every year. I don't know much about the school but the hockey program has been pretty respectable for the better part of the decade.

Maybe it's easy to get into academically or it's close to home. I'm not familiar with the three players that are rumored to be transfering from Plattsburgh.

If Oswego doesn't start capitalizing on their chances and be more responsible defensively, they aren't going to drub anyone let alone a solid Curry team with the three Plattsburgh transfers added. Hopefully getting taken to the shed by Hobart forces them to buckle down and start putting some of these games away early.

As for Curry and their transfers, I guess they are just another one of those teams that can't compete without taking someone elses talent.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we play Curry on December 31st in the Cardinal Classic?! Would Kavanaugh and Devereaux be in the lineup for Curry?

IF all 3 do transfer to Curry like I'm hearing, as long as they are enrolled in classes at Curry then I believe they will be able to play in the Classic.
