Which is one of the dumbest things I ever see. I know its a rule you either hate or love, there isn't much inbetween. To me, a "star" player who goes into college just to fulfill the requirements of the one year rule takes away from that last person who WOULD have been let in had they not had to hold the spot for that person....The person who WOULD have got in and actually graduated and done something productive in their lives.
My 2 cents?..I think the NCAA should adopt the same rule it has for D1 to D3?..transfer and sit out a year, if a Canadian kid playing D1 or D3 wants to go back to a Canadian University, they have to sit out a year before they can play.
There are many D3 players who have received offers from D1 schools but chose D3 because they felt they would get more playing time. A D1 player who transfers to D3 can play without the year long wait and in many cases bumps a good D3 player to the 4th line or worse. What happened to the notion that a coach ?develops? the players over the years, they obviously saw something in the recruits game to warrant an offer, now take the time to develop the player??.Some of the most successful NHL teams have done it through the draft, working with the players, creating good chemistry, etc?.Ok, I?m off the ?soap box?.![]()
Craig is going to Plattsburgh...So now Oswego has five players on the current roster (if this is true) who were members of Division-I hockey programs.
Dan Bremner- Mercyhurst
Ian Boots- Ohio State University
Owen Kelly- Air Force
Tim Carr- UMass Lowell
Ryan Craig- Niagara
And Emery doesn't want to accept transfer requests at the break...tsk tsk.

So what happeneded in Hobart last night? Looks like D1 transfers aren't always what they are hyped up to be. If you want to build your team with transfers then fine, if you build it more traditionally that's good too....just remember any given team on any given night can shine.
Way to go Hobart, I was looking foward to the Cards being the first chink in the Lakers armor but more power to Hobart and anyone else who can cut em down. I've always said anyone who beats Middlebury is good in my book, well I'm rootin' for whoever beats Oswego too....
Go Cards!
Would you guys quit crying.
No one whined about Plattsburgh having a better FA package when the Cards were running train on the SUNYAC.
Back then was back then...now is now...any SUNY school can offer what Oz is offering.....which benefits a wide range of students, not just athletes who wear skates....so man up or shut up.....Plattsburghs FA back then was no where near what Oswego is giving now.....and its something you had to do to keep up with Middlebury and RIT. But there is a difference between giving some, and giving free room and board and then some....
When your #1 everyone is out for blood, the lakers didn't show the drive Hobart had and they lost because of it.
Rooting for anyone who goes against the lakers? I root for other SUNYAC teams to take down Plattsburgh, which so far has been happening more often than usual, but I root for Plattsburgh in out of conference games. In my opinion when the conference as a whole does good it really shows what SUNY is capable of, idk about you but I don't like when people try to talk down the SUNY system just because its public.

Ryan Craig has yet to appear in a game for Niagara this year and in 2 seasons has played in 13 games scoring 2 assists....it doesnt seem like much but one has to remember Don Patrick coming from Ferris State where he played in just 15 games and had 0 points....he went on to score 141 points (41goals, 100 assists) in 105 games for the Lakers...
The direction that this thread has gone has gotten plain silly, especially as it relates to transfers. As far as I know, it is up to the player to initiate contact if they wish to transfer from a DI program to a DIII. It would be tampering for the DIII coach to do so. As long as Gosek isn't out there trolling (old fishing term) for transfers, there is no problem here.
Furthermore, as long as a school isn't doing what Genney and Buff State were doing, FA packages are not built differently for hockey players than any other student. If it's more attractive for a hockey player to go one school than another because of FA, it would be the same for a non-hockey player with similar credentials.
