Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010
I posted this in the Oswego thread but thought it was just as appropriate here and would like to know what Cards fans think. Looking forward to a great game tonight.
...On a more hockey related note. It's GAME DAY! The first (only? - that was for you Carey
) SUNYAC test of the year goes down tonight in Plattsburgh.
Both teams will go at it with goalie situations that are far from rock solid. It seems to be more than just a slight possibility that Kyle Gunn-Taylor will get the start in net tonight with Paul Beckwith being too sick to play. On the opposite side of the ice, freshman Josh Leis will be in net for the Cards (courtesy of Bill R in the Plattsburgh thread). If that is the case, that means that each team will be starting a goalie that only has one start for their team (KGT played last night, his first for the Lakers but had already played in 21 for Buff St). I'm wondering if a situation like that has ever happened.
Both teams are coming off very solid performances against mediocre at best SUNYAC squads last night. Lakers hung 8 on Potsdam while Cards scored 5 against the Red Dragons. It looks like the offense and defense are looking quite good despite some substantial losses from last year on both teams. Clearly goaltending is always a crucial part of the game, but is it safe to say that it is the main deciding factor in tonight's game considering the little experience each one has? Which team is better off in net tonight? How will the Lakers perform knowing that 0-9-1 is hanging over their heads? What does each team need to do in order to get a W tonight?
Let's get some discussion folks
