Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Cardinals put on late show (Excerpt from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican article from 2/7/10)

Plattsburgh State turns back pesky Morrisville in men's hockey.

The real Plattsburgh State men's hockey team showed up in the third period Saturday night.

Phil Farrow and Dylan Clarke scored goals less than a minute apart in the final stanza as the Cardinals broke a 1-all tie and skated to a 4-1 victory over pesky Morrisville in State University of New York Athletic Conference action at the Stafford Ice Arena.

"I give Morrisville a lot of credit," Emery said. "They came out with a lot of energy.

"We had about 10 minutes of energy and leadership in the first period and none in the second period. We finally got the energy and leadership we needed in the third."

"Farrow has been practicing and playing better," Emery said. "It was good to see him score. Also, Clarke. We need those two guys to play well."

"We need to get leadership for 60 minutes," Emery said. "We don't have a lot of rah-rah guys. But, talent loses out to hard work."

"We weren't able to get any momentum going in the second period because we spent time in the penalty box," Emery said.

"Leis was equal to the task, especially in the second period when he made some big saves," Emery said.

The Cardinals close out their home regular season schedule this coming weekend when they host Buffalo State on Friday and Fredonia on Saturday.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Shocked that I had to go to the second page to find this thread.

Anyways, I just wanted to make mention that Josh Leis has been named the SUNYAC Goaltender of the Week. It is the third time this season the rookie netminder has been awarded the honor, which is tied with Oswego's Kyle Gunn-Taylor for the most times this season. Ryan Williams has garnered the award once.

Clearly TacoRob is right, Emery has no business playing this kid.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

And I guess we'll see less Green ink next year if Oswego isn't #1 all year, too, right? Unless, of course, they don't win it all this year and we have to fire up the "Fire Gosek" thread again. I am noticing a little more cockiness this year (and a lot more in number of posters) from Oswego this year....or is it just me?:D

There are certainly a lot more Oswego posters this year. Although this raise in numbers started about four or five years ago.

I'm not trying to pat my own back here but I've introduced a few Oswego students to USCHO so I think in part I've helped raise awareness on campus of this website.

I have six referrals so if that means anything;)

I was actually talking about this with nysportsfan (Andrew) earlier this year that it seems like there have been A LOT of new posters this season too for Oswego and of course there is going to be a cockiness amongst those new posters that weren't on here when Oswego was Plattsburgh's bridesmaid every season.

I think if we took a roll call, Oswego would come close to doubling the amount of posters of the second largest fan base on this board.

Boy have times changed from when i first started out here in 2000. Plattsburgh, Middlebury, Norwich, Superior, and RIT fans were all over the place.

Oswego, Elmira, Stevens Point, St. Norbert were all a step below.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

This is what we were saying for the January 30th game, but that didn't work out to well.

It'll be awfully tough for the Lakers to beat Plattsburgh three times in a row.

Is it possible? Surely. Especially with the game in front of the home town crowd if it happens. The monkey is off Oswego's back.

Plattsburgh for the first time in a long time will be the team playing for their playoff lives and have to grip the stick a little bit tighter and have to make those gambles to try and win the game.

Plattsburgh is still in pretty good shape for a Pool C. However upsets almost always happen in the conference tournaments and if Norwich goes down or SNC/CSS don't win the NCHA, Plattsburgh will be sweating hardcore on selection sunday if they dont with the SUNYAC tourney.

I know for myself I started as a student here in 2003 and 'trolled' the boards for over a year before actually making an account. I had to due to my 'research' ;)

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Any idea who coach Emery was watching in Cornwall last weekend? The game featured many D1 recruits and a handfull of future D1 committs. The game also had its share of "tweeners" or players that could probably play D1 but not at a high level, but would be very good D3 players(Emery's speciality). For Brockville this list would include Saunders, Boak, Livingston, Arnold and others. Cornwall has Zanella, Herskovitch, Ouilette, Laurie and Avery.

----------------------------------------------------------Thanks Prez, for the heads up. I guess you must be telling us how you felt last year on selection Sunday. Telling us anything we don't know already?

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

I disappeared from this thread b/c besides upsetting everyone with my opinion I also managed to get to annoyed by some posts. Now I read for sh*ts and giggles. However, I must admit I am extremely proud of my Lakers and although I feel an eventual third match with the Cards is gonna happen, I am fearful of a Lakers vs. Cards SUNYAC finals.

You completely missed my point. (as always)

Still saving that post where I said the Potsdam game scared me more than the Plattsburgh game a few weeks ago.

How'd that work out for ya?:D

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey - 2009/2010

Cardinals need momentum (Excerpt from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican article from 2/12/10)

"Buffalo State has everything to gain and nothing to lose," said Plattsburgh State head coach Bob Emery. "They will throw everything they've got at us and work their tails off.

"We have to stay disciplined and stay out of the box. We have to play Cardinal Hockey and get the puck to the net where good things will hopefully happen for us."
