Patty Kazmaier 2022

Timothy A

Let's go RED!
Usually we are chatting about this by now, so let's get started. I am championing no UW player, none are deserving this season. I am fascinated by the OSU D Jaques. 16 goals as a D is tremendous and 31 assists is a wow. The next highest D in overall scoring has 5G and 28A. There's no F running away with the scoring title. Frankel has the most s/o by 3 over Blair and the best save%, though it's not light years ahead of the others.

Sophie Jaques definitely merits consideration. I could never figure out her season last year, and Emma Maltais, too, but especially Jaques. Too much talent to not be more productive offensively. Maybe they needed her to just anchor the D w/o Dunne? Anyway, what a bounce-back year for #18. It seems that D never get any love, and because Jaques is so effective defensively, I think that she absolutely deserves some.

I don't know Timmay, Watts has surged to 2nd in the nation in scoring and leads the country in goals. A big weekend @ OSU might get her over the top.

Hahah this was great. I’m happy she went off this weekend. Just like seeing greatness. A nine point weekend is insane. Was happy to see Haase, Milewski, giving it some love on Twitter .

Peaking at the right time. Now second in all time scoring where no one else has even approached the records of the past with the overall quality of game play rising.

Now second in all time scoring where no one else has even approached the records of the past ...
How high does somebody have to get to qualify as "approaching" the records of the past? Just wondering.

So I assume she will break this, probably not this weekend against OSU, but the following week against BSU or Mankato, does that give her the inside track to the award?

Watts has already won the Patty Kaz and only Jennifer Botterill (when talent depth wasn’t what it is today) has won twice. While I think you could make a good argument that she should win it, I’m almost certain that she won’t.

if it is close they will give it to the player who hasn’t won before which would give Heise the edge IMO.

Fixed your post. You forgot Ms Giguere when talking about players that have made it into the {Top 15} :-) records of the past.
She won't win the Patty Kaz this year but she is another terrific player and holds most of the Clarkson scoring records.

How about anywhere on the top 25??
Elizabeth Giguere has 280 points, so she'd be sixth.

Hannah Brandt never got any credit for career numbers!
I think if she'd been healthy her senior year, then her career numbers and her NCAA performance would have earned her more credibility. She wasn't, so it came down to Coyne over Carpenter.

While we're talking career numbers, can Watts reach the 319 that Jennifer Botterill posted? Likely a maximum of nine more games, 10 if the WCHA quarter goes to the third game.

I had her at 233 points coming into this year from collegehockeystats, plus another 47 this year. Is that wrong? Anyway, she has three more regular season games, as UMD plays SCSU tomorrow (as well as this weekend).
