Pats' Offseason: At Least The Jets Lost . . . ?

Re: Pats' Offseason: At Least The Jets Lost . . . ?

He can be a game changer in more than one way. I'm glad they did something on D, hopefully he changes it in a positive way

It depends, does he feel your defensive scheme is actually worth earning his $100 million?

Re: Pats' Offseason: At Least The Jets Lost . . . ?

I like it because there's no downside. Say he shows up late, overweight, and doesn't want to learn the playbook. Great - he'll be cut immediately, his career will be over (unless the idiot Raiders take once last chance on him) and the Pats are out a 5th rounder next year.

Now, if you can get him at 70-75% of what he was in Tennessee, its a great deal. Given the way that these players blow through money, I'm not sure you can say Haynesworth is set for life, but this is his last chance to keep earning a big payday in the league. The guy has talent and isn't coming off an injury or anything. Its basically an attitude adjustment he needs.

Beyond this though, it shows me that Belichick is serious about going the extra mile to make SB run. Seems they're always missing a critical component. Last year it was the pass rush, and it been directly addressed by this move.

So he can count on getting cut after the 2012 season.

Crumpler, Kaczur, and Warren (Ty) have been released, per Reiss.

Wow, six years.

Adam Schefter
Filed to ESPN: Patriots Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins signed a six-year deal with the Patriots. So he isn't going anywhere after all.

Looks good. Only change I think is the team goes with 5 RB's and adds Morris, while one of those two back end WR's gets practice squaded, leaving 6 to open the season.

Not sure why Brace is still with the team as he's done nothing but get injured since getting here. Deaderick seems a more safe bet to make the roster once healthy as they do have to get younger eventually on the D-line and he played pretty well last year.

Re: Pats' Offseason: At Least The Jets Lost . . . ?

Soome rumblings the last few days about Mike Wright perhaps being all done. He got concussed in the Indy game last year and apparently hasn't been completely with it since. That would be too bad.

Re: Pats' Offseason: At Least The Jets Lost . . . ?

Good article in Globe today that indicates Yeatman may have a leg up on the third TE spot.

I've been hearing quite a bit of that. Smith started strong but has been banged up and hasn't practiced much. With rosters only needing to be cut to 80 next Tuesday, that fourth preseason game is going to be very important for a lot of these guys.

Re: Pats' Offseason: At Least The Jets Lost . . . ?

Good advance research by Board favorite Mike Reiss, who noted Detroit might try to kick "short" and force a runback. They came out and did exactly that right away.

Re: Pats' Offseason: At Least The Jets Lost . . . ?

Lots and lots of work to do. They're the same issues that have existed for a while: (1) can they protect Brady, and if not, (2) can Brady consistently beat pressure?

Also, Detroit is really going after McCourty. He has made some plays and he has been beaten as well.

The end-of-half stuff was bull**** and they ought to be ashamed. These are supposed to be professionals, right?
