Totally unnecessary by Boyle. Dirty.

And Maguire calling it "protecting himself" is ridiculous.

Re: Part IV of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or All Your Hockey Are Belong to US

Screw you guys. I'm just glad to see a Shark actually retaliate for a cheap shot delivered to him.

Re: Part IV of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or All Your Hockey Are Belong to US

I don't see how that Semin hit was illegal... further I don't understand why Boyle isn't being tossed for the tournament.

Kick that bastard out for the game against Sweden/Slovakia. That is intentional and can seriously hurt someone.

Re: Part IV of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or All Your Hockey Are Belong to US

boyle went low.. tough for him.

then he showed how canada is a bunch of whiney crying babies and cheat to hurt.

Isn't slewfoot an automatic suspension in the NHL? I don't see how IIHF could be more lenient than the NHL is. Also, the Semin hit didn't seem illegal to me, it was shoulder to shoulder on a puck carrier. Perhaps boarding b/c of Boyle hitting the boards violently, but I wouldn't have called it a penalty.

The answer to this is "its Canada"

I'll admit to being a little worried about the coming few days. The Canadians beat the Auld Enemy is Russia, take down the highly touted Swedes, and then beat the Americans to avenge Super Sunday? Thats a Canadian wet dream that would take their arrogance into the stratosphere.

Yeah, I can easily see this happening.

Was the penalty on Semin for the hit? I could've sworn I saw the referee with his arm up before Semin made contact.

Can they review the play and suspend the player after the game? Or does it have to be made on a call by the ref?

Re: Part IV of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or All Your Hockey Are Belong to US

Disgusting play by Boyle. I don't think Semin's hit was too bad - hard, but the heads were up...

Minor for Boyle -- ridiculous. Toss for the game at least. (all 2:45 left  )

I hope he is suspended afterward if they have that ability, but I doubt the IIHF does anything to a Canadian.
