Part IV of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or All Your Hockey Are Belong to US

Re: Part IV of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or All Your Hockey Are Belong to US

The play before that third Norwegian goal was way offsides. Like by a foot and a half.

Heh - oh well.

Surprisingly, Pete Feola isn't lining this game. I'm guessing he has one of the 4 tomorrow, he didn't do any today.

And, not sure if this was posted already or not, but Luongo getting the start tomorrow according to MSNBC. If he let in 2 to Germany, is that equivalent to roughly 7 against Russia?;)

Who cares? If Slovakia can't overcome one abortion of a call to beat Norway, they shouldn't be in the quarterfinals in the first place. :D

Jeez, are you rooting for all the favorites?

Just my people.

In this case, 1/4 Slovak > 1/8 Norwegian (1/4 Czech already through, 1/8 Germany is gone, 1/4 Italy and they didn't even qualify).

In the QF, I'm not going to get any favorites (except the US).

Chara vs the entire Norwegian team at the end of the game.

Man, Norge had its chances. Great game by them.

That deflection near the end was * close to going in.

Chara is a huge puss and everyone in this tournament has been treating him as such.

My maternal grandmother is Slovak. Anyway, the real enemy is Hungary, and I don't see them winning many medals. :p

(What's your Slovak surname? Ours is Popović.)

Hey, don't bash on us poor Hungarians!

Preblick. I know that it was Americanized, I just don't know from what. Closest things I have found are Prebić, Prebula, Prelich, and Pribik.

In the ethnically Slovak town I used to live in here in Hungary there were a bunch of folks named Pribelski, which isn't far off. It also could be they just dropped an i or y from the end (Preblicky) and kept the spelling since the unaccented "c" in Slovak makes a "ts" sound and so "cky" at the end is about the same as the classic slav "sky".

Re: Part IV of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or All Your Hockey Are Belong to US

Hopefully somebody can help me out.

I'm recording the USA/Swiss game due to other commitments. Is NBC really going to show this game in 2 hours? (No, of course not). Where is the most likely place it will get moved to, or will they continue on NBC? MSNBC is already slated to host Sweden/GB curling tie breaker, CNBC has Mad Money, and USA has 9 hours of NCIS from 1pm to 10pm here, not sure about everywhere else.

Whiskey Tengo Foxtrot, NBC.

Hey look on the bright side. Not delayed for you...

Re: Part IV of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or All Your Hockey Are Belong to US

I won't be able to watch it until, at the earliest, 9pm this evening. 4 hour tape-delay for me! :p

Same here. In fact, I probably won't be able to watch it until about 9 pm on THURSDAY. :( At which point I will already know the outcome, and unless it is a GREAT game, I might not watch anyway.

If you have a cable or internet account with the right provider (e.g., TimeWarner) you should be able to watch the game live online at nbcolympics.com. I watched the end of the first USA-SUI game that way. (Was giving and exam for the first period and talking to a student for the second.)

Also, HOPP SCHWIIZ!!! (I'm pro-SUI, not anti-USA, FWIW.)

Well, that would help me except, as noted 3 posts ago, I can't watch the game until 9pmEST at the earliest due to work/classes/other things.

Re: Part IV of the XXIst Winter Olympiad Or All Your Hockey Are Belong to US

I decided that I'm not going to try to watch the game on DVR, I'll just follow it online, hopefully people are posting updates here. By the time I get home, I'll want to watch the Canada-Russia game, and wouldn't have time to watch the US game.
