Paris Under Attack....the hell?

Re: Paris Under Attack....the hell?

the proper analogy would be if japan wanted to send a couple hundred thousand "refugees" here after bombing us.

No, it's really not. The proper analogy would be us in the late 1930s turning away ships of Jewish refugees to send them back the Germany because Holy Crap They're Germans!!!!

Re: Paris Under Attack....the hell?

France is saying they have 10,000 radicalized muslims in their country. That should lead to a fun time in the next few years
From a former hostage,

Last, if all of Europe was looking for the ringleader of the paris attack before it happened, why did France let him go when they had him on a traffic stop?

Much like after 9/11 here there has to be a serious reckoning for the French internal security services. I had to shake my head when I mistakenly watched CNN and ditz Erin Burnett asked how this could happen since France has the best intelligence in the world after the last attack. Um...Erin, maybe not? I also liked when they pronounced Hollande's name as "Holland" like the country.

Whatever we think of some of the methods the bottom line is the US takes more casualties from mass shootings than Islamic terrorists. That can't all be by luck that we haven't been struck again and would be attackers have to result to more difficult means to accomplish their goals (a bomb in your underwear?). What I can't get past is how much firepower and coordination these nuts bring to their attacks. From what I've read its special forces military type precision which is horrifying.

You know, I always wonder if these jerks choose not to attack the US and instead are laughing at how Americans are killing themselves with all these mass shootings, no need for them to do anything.

I'm also torn on this refugee situation. I've seen so many strong comments for and against on Facebook. Some of the against posts are so horrid, some of the for posts are just too stupid. If the US had its own house in order and didn't have issues with homelessness, I might be more inclined to say "let 'em come" but we have way too many things that need to be done for our own people.....it's really too delicate a situation to be so cut and dry.

I'm curious if just letting in mothers and children would solve some of the problem at least temporarily as I believe (and I realize this isn't 100%) most terrorists are males.

I don't think the groups involved would be willing to break up families. A goodly sum of Syrian women will be illiterate, should the country follow a hardline Muslim teaching (don't know what's the norm there, actually), which would be a huge burden upon them to be separated from their husbands.

Besides that, if what was stated earlier in this thread is true, it's the teenage refugees that are most likely to become the suicide bombers and hostage takers - the foot soldiers. The men who already have families want to take care of them, not abandon them in the name of some cause or another.

2 massive oceans certainly helps with the whole prevention thing.

There's no easy way to get here from there. You have to take a plane or ocean-faring ship at some point, which means you have to go through an official port somewhere on this hemisphere.

You can avoid that in getting to Europe. There are land routes, however tough they might be.

Mookie is not comfortable splitting up families (since a nuclear family is so strong in the US already  ). But seriously to take in a mother and children and put dad in gitmo is just assinine.

Re: Paris Under Attack....the hell?

HEY!!!!

Ummm...I wasn't advocating putting the dad in Gitmo. I would bring women and children over first as I think they'd need less vetting, then the fathers after a thorough check.

Re: Paris Under Attack....the hell?

Not Paris but, the stadium in Hannover where a soccer match between Germany and Netherlands is being evacuated.
