Oswego's Neil Musselwhite up for D-I Frozen Four Skills Challenge

Re: Oswego's Neil Musselwhite up for D-I Frozen Four Skills Challenge

Okay. From the perspective of a UWSP student (which I am not, just speculating), I would have looked at the games in Menomonie like this:

*It's 160 miles away. That's about 2-2.5 hours, so I've got leave by 5pm on friday. But who's to say I don't have classes until 6 or later? (Don't know about UWSP, but it happens here at Siena)
*There's a game on Saturday as well, so either I fork out the $$ for a hotel, or I fork out the $$ at the gas pump by driving a total 640 miles (160 there, 160 back x2).
*It's a week before thanksgiving break. Teachers enjoy giving tests in that last week, to make sure we're leaving on good footing. (again, don't know about UWSP, but it happens here at Siena.)

Now, from the Stout student travelling to Stevens Point:

*One game, on a Saturday. No issue.
*Middle of February, generally no issue with testing (for the average college professor)
*This game has MUCH more playoff implication than the other did.
*Is the entire DA also going to Green Bay the night before? I doubt it unless none of them have afternoon Friday classes (or they just don't give a sh*t about the schooling, in which case I have no respect for them at all).

You can't tell how well a team's fan/student section travels based on one game or weekend series. Sorry.

Those are some interesting theories...

BUMPITY

Very Cool!

From the article:
Musselwhite was speechless when told the news at practice on Wednesday, but would like to thank all of the Oswego State fans who voted for him over a two-week period as selection to the team was partially based on those fan votes.

Condrats Neil! Great honor!

Re: Oswego's Neil Musselwhite up for D-I Frozen Four Skills Challenge

I hope all of the other D III fans get behind Neil because it is a big accomplishment. Do you know what channel the skills contest is on?

Someone send Musselwhite a note, because I know for a fact several PLATTSBURGH fans were even voting for his Laker **S :D Congrats!

I'm sure a lot of Eastern D III fans voted for him. I hope he makes a good showing at the Frozen Four.

Haven't looked at it yet, but if ESPN is airing it like they did last year, it was:

Semifinals on ESPN2 :)
Finals on ESPN :)
Skills competition on ESPNU :(

Neil got my votes, as he has came through in the past when in a "short position", I think he is a great choice to represent DIII - the NCAA's "redheaded bastard stepchild".

Neil's performance last night was one big thank you to all of us who stuffed the ballot box.....

Let's hope we all get to enjoy him in TWO more games in Lake Placid!

After last night's performance Neil now leads the Lakers in Goals. I'm guessing there might be a bit of friendly competition between Neil and Selleck the last two games to see who ends up on top.

I think they could care less who scores the goals.

They want the national championship.

I don't care if Joe Hall scores the goals...oh wait:cool:

Hopefully at some point one of the WTOP guys puts up his first goal from last night, as much as I've seen Musselwhite play this year, I have never seen the kind of speed he showed around the corner on it. As a matter of fact, I've never seen a player dominate an opposing defense as much as he did last night. If he wasn't as defensive minded as he is, he could have had more last night.

More impressive than this:

Garren Reisweber would like to have a word with you. Musselwhite took that move from him.

I'd put it up there, he seemingly turned a 1 on 3 to a breakaway all within the length of the faceoff circle.
