Oswego's Neil Musselwhite up for D-I Frozen Four Skills Challenge

Re: Oswego's Neil Musselwhite up for D-I Frozen Four Skills Challenge

As if he's not going fast enough to begin with, that little half-crossover as he goes by the second ref really elevates him into "ludicrous speed" territory.

He's gone to plaid...

Was Musselwhite's name spelled wrong on that jersey? :o

Re: Oswego's Neil Musselwhite up for D-I Frozen Four Skills Challenge

It was intentional. We snuck him in under an assumed name. "Under the radar" if you will. They fell for it- hook, line, and sinker. ;)

Saw Musslewhite play against SNC in the semi. He's the real deal. Definately has a shot at the skills comp.

Re: Oswego's Neil Musselwhite up for D-I Frozen Four Skills Challenge

One slight problem - they have already taken up the ice at the Campus Center... as of last night, no one had a handle on where Neil could skate to practice for the skills competition.....

Re: Oswego's Neil Musselwhite up for D-I Frozen Four Skills Challenge

Finally got to see him play, Friday.
Never seen anyone who could skate faster, and he's great with the stick, but in this one game, anyway, he was entirely predictable, and therefore not so hard for a great defense to handle. Once he looks to the net, and makes a break for it, and the crowd starts chanting Neil, he's not going to pass... he's going to shoot, even if there are better scoring options....

Um, well, "once he looks to the net, and makes a break for it" ... there are no other scoring options available to him cuz ... his linemates are sucking wind to catch up to the play. If he gets a chance to play after college he will find many others that can skate like him and those options will be available. But most likely, like most other DIII players he will need to submit to reality and hopefully find a career in his chosen field.

You are right, MOST, of the time he doesn't have options, but there were at least three of four times that he did, and I only remember him passing it off once.

After seeing Neil against Norwich on Friday, the only words I could find to describe him were: "Skilled Lighting"

He is a superb hockey player.

Re: Oswego's Neil Musselwhite up for D-I Frozen Four Skills Challenge

I've only been around DIII for 12 years, but that's the only player I've come across in which the entire arena audibly buzzes every time he gets the puck in anything resembling a transition setting.

I hope he wins the DI fastest skater event. That'd be so great.

Don't we all wish we had played Norwich- either Friday or Saturday ;)

Agree about Neil. Next year will be a rebuilding year for us if only due to Neil graduating!

I suppose, at least Plattsburgh can say they got booted from the championship by the eventual National Champions. :p

Seriously, good points, but Kyle Gunn-Taylor made his mark too and Brad Dormiedy has only 11 points behind Neil and Tyler Lyon had one GW and several KEY assists

Does this mean he's as smart as a CFL bulb? ;)

Not only is he fast, but MORE importantly his hands can keep up with his feet, with some players sometimes they cant.....

Photo Finish? I thought the closest competitor was about .5 second behind?
