He may not be the backup much longer.
Lenny Perno was the guy for his first year-and-a-half. However, this year, Werber, who's a senior, has started 7 games while Perno has started 12. But Werber's play in the last four games makes him in my mind the current number one.
Werber had a .912 save percentage in a 3-3 tie against St. Michael's. Stopped 32 shots in a shutout against Canton. Came in for mopup duty in their blowout loss to Plattsburgh, letting up a goal on four shots. And then yesterday, let one in (and none in the shootout) on 54 shots.
Not exactly backup performance.
