after watching both games highlights, thanks Mike, on a few of the power play goals Leimbrock was in front of the net and looked to be screening the goalie, I think this is what has been missing from the Oz PP, they do a lot of passing around the perimeter and when the shot is finally blasted, usually a onetimer, there is nobody in front of the net...good to see a big body in front, hope they keep that up

Hopefully they are focused on the WHOLE weekend and get the W Friday against potsdam and Saturday they can play more relaxed and just worry about Platty.

There's always the off-chance that Cortland might beat Platty on Friday (they pulled a surprise on Utica so who knows?). A plattsburgh loss would be just as helpful as an Oswego win.

WOW...Awfully quiet on here and it's only 4 days until the Plattsburgh game. I am pretty sure that we will see a different game this time as both teams are a little healthier. At least i believe Oswego is with Whitelaw back.

I think we surely will see a different game, and a different Plattsburgh team. With the NCAA rankings out, and Plattsburg's season over if they lose in the playoffs, this is going to be a tough weekend for Oswego. Hopefully they are ready for playoff hockey, because I believe they are going to see it at Stafford.

That Potsdam game is the absolute flattest game I have ever seen Oswego play. They had a very hard fought game against Plattsburgh the night before and had pretty much nothing left in the tank for Potsdam. To make it worse it was Senior night for the guys that won the National Title and the student section couldn't be bothered to stick around for the ceremony.

Oswego has one advantage coming into the Plattsburgh game in that if they win against Potsdam they'll already be guaranteed the regular season title. Even if they lose to Potsdam, they only need a tie against Platty to guarantee the regular season title. It's lower pressure, which might help things out. You can bet your bottom dollar that McConney isn't going to make the same turnover mistake on the powerplay that he made last game (which ended in a SHG for platty). If Platty is counting on any easy goals like that they're going to be sorely disappointed.

A key statistic Oswego should look at is their goal totals in wins vs. losses. Whenever Oswego has managed to get at least 3 goals, they've never lost. Whenever Oswego has scored first they've always won. If Oswego can get on the board first and get to that magic number 3, they can win this game without breaking too much of a sweat. They showed they could stop Plattsburgh for two periods, now they just have to do it for 3. They showed they can put up 35 shots on goals against Plattsburgh, if they do that again they're likely to get more than 1 goal.

I don't know about the Lakers not having to break a sweat if they score at least 3 goals. McConney isn't the only defenseman who's had his pocket picked by the Cardinals. They have 7 shorties this year and have given up just 8 PP goals. Docking, Alex Jensen and Cassidy are super aggresive on the kill and will make you pay if you're the least bit careless.

As always, throw out the records for Oswego-Platty games. Each one is different. I've seen each team get outplayed and still win against each other. I have not seen too many blowouts over the years. Besides, I think this game is just the preliminary to the SUNYAC championship game. Both teams may be looking past their Friday night opponent, so beware of that. If the Bears were to surprise them (doubtful), all bets are off for Saturday. Can you imagine that setup?? However if you look at the history, including recently, either team plays well on the other's ice and is more than capable of a road win. It should be fun !

well no matter what whether the game "counts" or not its sure to be a great game, dont see either team letting down their gaurd and not playing their A game...I can say 1 thing will be nice to watch at home at least

I would tend to agree with the el captain. This is one game Oswego cannot be sloppy in their own end. Turnovers have been a problem that has translated into goals for the other side pretty much all year. Platty has been out of their mind scoring SHG while been penalized very little. (huh, what? Yes, least penalized team in the SUNYAC) 3 goals for OZ or not, it wont matter if 1 or 2 are poked in from turnovers making it 4-3 Cards.

I think you might want to check the standings again..... Plattsburgh is 3 points behind Oswego going into this weekend. A loss or tie against Potsdam would open the door for Plattsburgh to steal the regular season title from Oswego with a 4 point weekend. If Oswego only scores 1 point this weekend and Plattsburgh scores all 4 then Plattsburgh would tie Oswego in points and win the title based on the head to head matchup.

No, toto was correct...actually you both were correct. LoudHorn31..I think you misread what he wrote. If Oswego loses to Potsdam, then they do only need a tie against Plattsburgh to win the Regular Season title.
