Maybe I'm missing something, but a 1 point weekend by Oswego would give them a total of 27 points. A 4 point weekend by Plattsburgh would also give them 27 points. in this case both would have 27 points and be tied for the regular season championship, how would Oswego win it? No, toto was correct...actually you both were correct. LoudHorn31..I think you misread what he wrote. If Oswego loses to Potsdam, then they do only need a tie against Plattsburgh to win the Regular Season title.

Before we begin, here are the tiebreaker rules as stated in the 2011-12 SUNYAC Handbook under the Ice Hockey Team Operating Codes and Tournament Information section.
1. The best record of tied teams against each other based on Conference play (tournament play will not be considered).
2. Number of total Conference wins over ties if points are equal.
3. Goal differential against each other in Conference play.
4. Goal differential against all other Conference teams.
5. Coin flip by Commissioner.

You are correct..however..toto's original scenario had Oswego losing to Potsdam and then needing to tie Platty to win the conference. That would yield a one point weekend for Oswego and a three point weekend for Platty...

In the NHL a tie always end in a shootout, so one team gets 1 point and the other gets 2 points. But in D3, a tie in the regular season ends in a tie, with one point for each team. So if Oswego loses Potsdam and ties Plattsburgh, Oswego will have a 1 point weekend and Plattsburgh will have a 3 point weekend. This puts Platty behind by one point.

Agreed.....these Laker seniors have been on a mission since March 18, 2012 (checkout the latest episode of 24/7 for the photo our Captain has above the bathroom sink). Winning puts your future in your own hands. Winning reduces the smokey room shenanigans. Win pretty or win ugly - winning is the key. Nonsense indeed. It's ridiculous for anyone to think that if Oswego locks up the regular season title on Friday, that the game against Platty on Saturday doesn't mean all that much. First, Oswego's record against ranked teams is dreadful. They NEED to beat Platty to get their win % up.
After looking at the bracketology post on the other site, it's pretty clear that only one SUNYAC team is going to the NCAA's this year, unless both Utica and Hobart have epic collapses. Oswego just doesn't have the SOS or the RNK to get a Pool C bid ahead of several other teams.
Bottom line: it's win or go home for the Lakers.

That's my point. I like the idea of awarding 3 points for a win on the ice (reg time or OT), 2 points for winning in a shoot out, and one point for losing in a shoot out. Forecast is for a temp of 11 degrees and 30 mph winds....it is usually colder inside than outside according to published reports...leave the suit in the bag and dress for the downhill at Whiteface Mtn.For those of you that have been to the rink at Massena... how cold are we talking?

How cold is it in the Massena Arena? I wear thermal bottoms and dress as warmly as possible, and sit near a heater, yet I still am pretty cold when I get home. Shouldn't be all that bad this evening. Tomorrow night...well...
