I noticed that if Oswego wins out for the rest of their season (3 reg season games, 2 SUNYAC playoff games, 3 NCAA games) that their record would be 27 - 3 for the season (which would be JUST enough to pass the record for Oswego's best season). So I wondered about how season length has changed over the years. While each year varies based on how far Oswego went in the playoffs that year, there's definitely a noticeable pattern where the number of games in a season increased until the late 1980s when it decreased, then it suddenly picked up for a few years in the late 90s, and has fallen and remained low since 2002. So i guess my question is why were there so many games in the early 80s and late 90s compared to today?
