Talk about a parade to the penalty box. Oswego's penalties at the last Buff State game is what made it such a close 5-4 contest, but now the tables are turned. Buff State is taking too many penalties and Oswego's making them pay the price.

I bear no ill will against some of those great teams out there, but tonight (for the sake of Oswego's best interest) I'm a fan of Castleton, Nazareth, and Geneseo.

Good morning, good afternoon and goodnight !

I noticed that if Oswego wins out for the rest of their season (3 reg season games, 2 SUNYAC playoff games, 3 NCAA games) that their record would be 27 - 3 for the season (which would be JUST enough to pass the record for Oswego's best season). So I wondered about how season length has changed over the years. While each year varies based on how far Oswego went in the playoffs that year, there's definitely a noticeable pattern where the number of games in a season increased until the late 1980s when it decreased, then it suddenly picked up for a few years in the late 90s, and has fallen and remained low since 2002. So i guess my question is why were there so many games in the early 80s and late 90s compared to today?

The NCAA allowed you to play more games back then. Plus there were best of three playoff series both in league playoff's and in the NCAA's.

The number of regular season games allowed was much higher than 25, not sure of the number though.

Correct me if my math is wrong, but I believe that if Oswego beats Fredonia in tonight's game there will be no way mathematically for Geneseo to catch up, right? So one more win in either Fredonia or Potsdam guarantees Oswego the #2 spot in the SUNYAC playoffs and therefore a first-round bye.

For the #1 spot, Oswego must either win in Fredonia and Potsdam, or win one and tie/beat Plattsburgh. Of course if Platty drops a game before next Saturday Oswego's job becomes a lot easier.

2 points for a win, 1 for a tie. Oz is up 3 points now.

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-2013....No Slogans, Just Hockey

Oswego, Plattsburgh and Geneseo have 3 conference games left - 6 points up worth - relying only on themselves, Oswego needs 3 points to secure a tie for 1st place, 4 points to secure the spot solo.
Geneseo only has two conference games left...need to redo the math

Congrats to tender Hare on his school record 10th shutout!

While this is true, since Plattsburgh DOES have three conference games left, it does NOT effect the math - Oswego needs 3 points to secure a tie for 1st place, 4 points to secure the spot solo.

Plattsburgh currently has 21 points with a potential for 6 more for 27 points max. Oswego currently has 24 points with a potential for 6 more for 30 points max. - Oswego can assure themselves a tie with 3 points (they will have 27 points - the most Plattsburgh can end up with) while 4 points or more gives them 28 or more and no one can catch them.

Congrats to tender Hare on his school record 10th shutout!

Seriously, with the offense that this team generates constantly, not enough credit is given to this guy for his excellent goaltending.

Another accolade for last night - to Bobby Gertsakis for his first in the Green and Gold. He is the polar opposite of Anderson and his consummate defense-man personality. Not a particularly big guy on D, but he hounds and hits his man constantly, and attacks furiously up ice enough for one to assume he is a forward. Plenty of assists awarded for his aggressiveness, and now, he has got the score. Looking forward to the highlights for this game.

Also set the record for most in a season with 5. Hare had matched the previous record of 4 in one season last season and broke it this season. He might still push that further.

Oswego is 3 points ahead of Genny right now, yes? So that means that if Oswego wins tonight, even if Genny wins tonight as well, Oswego will still be up 3 points on Genny. Since Genny only has one game left afterwards there is no way they could catch up with Oswego at that point. This means that if Oswego wins tonight, it's only a contest between 'wego and Platty for first place. Basically, if Oswego wins tonight, it can't do any worse than second place. It doesn't change the math between Oswego-Plattsburgh, but it absolutely changes the math between Oswego-Geneseo.

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-2013....No Slogans, Just Hockey

Ferdonia's record doesnt really show how good of a team they are. They've beaten some good teams this year including Platty. What Oswego player will step up and put the blue devils down?

I know for myself i look for the hot hand, David Titanic to play well, but Tyler Leimbrock has really shown some push lately for the boys. I'd look for him to play with some grit tonight.
