Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Hey Maloney:

Great find on the shorty hat trick stats. I didn't catch Friday's game, and only took a quick glance at the box and saw Musselwhite's 4 goals. Did not see the SHG next to the last three. I had to go back and do a double take on it.

Unbelievable that he scored 3 in three minutes! What was it, on a 5 minute major?

My Cornell hockey friends were amazed when I showed them the box.

First 2 were on the same penalty at the end of the 2nd and the last was on a separate penalty in the 3rd.

Hey Maloney:

Great find on the shorty hat trick stats.

It was actually Oswego home PxP man Mike Keeley (OSUPBPMike) who first alerted me to how rare the feat was.

I have made a request to the team that they upload video of the goals online. We'll see if they're able to...

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Question for those much more familiar with the area than I...

If I am planning to go to the 1/8 Adrian game, and then catch the game in Elmira at 4pm the next day, can any of you give suggestions for dcent yet affordable lodging? It's honestly something I've never had to deal with on my own before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In all honesty, I'd really watch the weather. If you're coming into town for just that game then it might be in your best interest to leave right after in case the lake effect kicks in overnight. Elmira is only 1:45-2 hours away and if you can take getting in there at around 11:30 or midnight it might be easier to drive through. Or drive to Geneva (about an hour away from both) and stay there for the night.

I would second the notion of playing the wait and see game. Unless you can find a place that gives you a substantial discount for booking before that day, or a couple days before, I would watch how the weather's going to be. Since class is not in session and it's not an Alumni Weekend, Bridge Street Run, or Harborfest, I would expect you'd be able to walk into any place in town and get a room.

First off, nothing against Mike... I'm just curious as to how he knew Neil had a natural shortie hat trick being that the second goal was originally credited to Dormo. Now he may have heard in the press box later that it had been changed. We however, were not in the press box, we were calling the game from the perch... gotta love them technical difficulties!

Secondly, I will see what we can do about uploading our feed of his goals... no promises though.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Got a tip about this happening. This could be devastating to the team going into a tough stretch this week, starting with tonight's game in Utica, which I consider to be a huge trap game. I wonder how much longer he will be an assistant coach after this.

Oswego, NY -- A student at the State University College at Oswego has been charged with possessing a stolen wallet.
Julie Harrison Blissert, speaking for the college, said Ryan A. Woodward, 27, of 147 W. 5th St., Oswego, is charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony. He is charged with possessing a wallet that had been reported stolen Friday. University Police are continuing their investigation and more charges are pending against Woodward.
The wallet was an heirloom and contained credit cards, Blissert said.
Woodward was arraigned before Oswego Town Justice Michael Sterio and sent to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail. He posted bail and is now out of jail. He will return to Oswego City Court at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Usually what happens in an incident like this (be it sports/company/organization etc.) is that the team/company/org will 'let the legal process run its course.' However, usually the court of public opinion and the institution's reputation would have sealed his fate the second the allegations came up.

If the allegations are proven to be true, then it truly is a sad and unfortunate incident.

I noticed it was changed on collegehockeystats.net (AKA the world's greatest website) soon after the conclusion of the game. The coaching staff saw the puck go in off of Musselwhite's skates on the video and had it changed.

But how quickly was that decision made.... and more concerning... how did mike know during the broadcast... that's the only question i have... it makes me jealous if he was privy to inside info because his equipment was working and ours wasn't... the one time that something cool actually happens in the press box and we miss it because WNYO's feed is through our headsets?!?! siiiigh

Your assistant coach just got charged with a felony and you are worried about how someone found out about a goal before you?? Yikes...

I called it like I saw it... going of Musselwhite's skate and in...

I heard them give it to Dormeidy but assumed they'd change it eventually and then noticed the next day that they had... I didn't receive any info before you, haha.

I have the audio clip if you want it :) ... both me and Anthony immediately reacted as if it went of Muss's skate... and it did. We just had a better angle that you guys for it.

However, Gosek did talk to both of them after and they said that it could go either way. I guess he was going to call it in and have it switched back... but being that its such a rare thing, I don't recommend that. Also, somewhere Dormo got gypped of an assist which he says he's not to please about. So there goes a 4 point night into a 2 point night.

Mr. and Mrs. Woodward,

Ryan is the heart and soul of this team and he will be sorely missed next season. You couldnt have a done a better job bringing up Ryan as he has surely left his mark on this town and college forever. Seeing him score the game winner yesterday just about made me break down in tears of joy. I hope today he has the perfect send off for a senior that never even won a SUNYAC title.....with the a national championship ring!

I had a similiar story as I too was planning on coming out but we got stranded at Newark airport and there was just no way...:(

GO GET EM LAKERS! THIS TOWN AND COLLEGE ARE BEHIND YOU 110%!!!:)

I'll let this one speak for itself...

There seems to be a lot missing here before I lock him up and throw away the key
I want more of the story We need "the rest of the story"

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Heard about the arrest and all that this morning from a professor on campus, then went and read the article on the Pall-Times website. I don't feel like there's much to judge on right now, there isn't a whole lot in the way of facts... Until we know more, the only question is how the team will react, especially the captains and leaders who played with Woody. Utica is a huge midweek trap game...

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

11-1-0

With tonight's win, I do believe this is the longest winning streak that the Lakers have had in at least the last 12 seasons

Really? What would that be? He was arrested and arraigned. That doesn't just happen to someone walking down the sidewalk. Let me guess, you are waiting for "the rest of the story" about O.J. as well.

Unless of course you want to argue that the Oswego Police Dept. targets Canadians in one giant profiling conspiracy.

Yes, that's it.

Brett Favre, Tim Tebow, and Ryan Woodward. The modern day Holy Trinity.

Innocent until proven guilty?
