Open Wheel Racing 2021, anyone there to watch?

Red Bull's cheating penalty announced- https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/1...-fia-punishment-for-formula-1-cost-cap-breach

$7M plut wind tunnel time.

Kind of expected they would not take points away, even though the points were gained with the cheating.

If people want an explanation- https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/r...lty-the-13-errors-listed-by-the-fia/10391662/

And the parts about catering and taxes are pretty minor to the 7 figure spend on parts that were put to the heritage department after they were no used during the season. Let alone, they didn't claim a fair value for the power units they got from Honda.

He's not wrong. It's pretty frustrating to see drivers like Stroll and Latifi have pretty long careers in F1 when they never displayed any decent, consistent speed. Let alone Mazapan who was even worse- but russian oligarch money was needed after rich energy.

But it's been that way for a very long time, even his era.

Emmo is right!

also, Alonso is right imo as well. https://racer.com/2022/10/29/alonso-tired-of-headlines-after-hamilton-schumacher-titles-comment/

Both Michael and Lewis had several titles where there was virtually no competition save for their teammates but even then it was a foregone conclusion team orders would favor Michael and Lewis…

Mike, 100%. Lewis, not so much. When it was really Lewis vs Nico, there were no team orders. And until Valteri showed he wasn't going to maintain his early season brightness- there were no team orders. The year Ferrari came on, there were, and there should have been team orders last season had Bottas gotten into a position to matter.

Does he think that the Prost/Senna titles were less because of one team dominating? Those seasons were dominated by one team, and it was just like Hamilton vs. Rosberg in terms of orders.

One more thing- for all of his self importance- he sure didn't put himself into many positions where he could dominate a season. The best teams he got on was 2007 McLaren and 2012 Ferrari- other than that, none of the best of the best teams wanted him. Schumacher built a dominant Ferrari around him, Hamilton saw the writing on the wall and moved to Mercedes- where everyone questioned it. They got the best seats for a reason.

Why do I read F1 reddit?

You know, things really have changed in F1 if the Ferrari International Assistance isn’t randomly banning tech from Red Bull and Mercedes until Ferrari is back on top.

Man, Brazil has some amazing twists and turns- the sprint qualifying today had some incredibly variable conditions. So that Kevin Magnussen will have the pole for tomorrow's sprint race. In a Haas. The team that could have just given up not long ago.

N00b question: when there is a sprint race how does the real race quali work? Is it (1) same grid as sprint or (2) grid determined by sprint finish or (3) another quali after the sprint?

Thanks.

So expect the top six to make their way to the front for Sunday.

I normally hate sprint races, as they are just parades- but this one was the best one they have ever had. More passing in that short race than in some entire races.

It was REALLY fun. That is the first sprint Dr. Mrs. & I have seen and we loved it.

Outside of Hamilton getting through the field, last year's sprint at Interlagos wasn't much. So that was a real treat. And it's not completely due to the mixed up grid- it wasn't *that* bad. There have been worse from wet and changing conditions.

So good timing for you!!

Want to separate a post to note that Verstappen did NOT let his teammate get a needed point to stay ahead of LeClerc- even when told to, and then said that he has his reasons. So as much as I like Perez, for the sake of how much I dislike max and christian, I very, very much hope LeClerc can finish ahead and get 2nd. It will make an epic RBR team for 2023 to have Perez and Verstappen hate each other that much.

Why did Checo crash deliberately in quali at Monaco?
