Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

Paul Tracy to Dryer & Reinbold beginning at either Long Beach or Birmingham

Tony Kanaan to KV racing

sweet!

now if only Scheckter and Wheldon can land something

also - I'm not sure what to make of Zanardi and Las Vegas. I mean I'd love it if he wanted to but he's been out of the game for a long time

Double header to start the season...

F1, man do I hate these 12 hrs across the world races. Speed isn't even replaying the Aussie race at a decent time Sunday. That sucks. I have no idea how DVRing works...do I need a pce of hardware or is that part of Charter's basic system? Anyway...McLaren comes out of nowhere (sandbagging?) and is and 1-2 in practice. Alonso, Vettel, Weber, Schumi round out top 6. Surprises: Perez is 8th in the Sauber, Renault is 12-13.

Indycar 1st practice: Hunter-Reay, Power, Conway, Dixon, Briscoe, Franchitti, Helio, Viso, Andretti and Wilson are the top 10. Danica is 19th (her teamates are 1, 3, 9) She's done. DONE.

I can't help you out on DVR'ing as I have Time Warner.

Supposedly the new Red Bull style exhaust on the McLaren has helped them out a lot. But I am thinking it is either sandbagging earlier in testing or they were running light on fuel today. I definitely think Perez was running light on fuel.

I really, really, really hope she just goes away to Crapcar so I don't have to deal with her notoriety anymore!

Michael Schumacher and Mercedes seemed to have had a productive off season. It's going to be fun watching this team. The question is are they for real and does Michael still have the skill?

I did some research on the DVR thing....work in progress I guess in my household.

I too was wondering if McL were just running light fuel loads to get some publicity.

Danica also ran the 2nd most laps of all the drivers in practice. I'm gonna love how she and the press twist her suckiness into something positive.

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

Well, part of the indications are in- red bull is fast and so is mclaren.....

Too bad I'll have to watch on this mobile thingy

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

Hopefully not a spoiler, but Vettel gets the 2011 open wheel season finally started with a 22 second win over Hamilton down under.

So it appears that the Red Bulls were fast, and that the Mclarens were sandbagging. Perhaps one might even say that the red cars were not quite as fast as they thought... :)

Vettel was certainly the class of the field! Hamilton a distant second.

Maybe the red cars weren't quite so off as Massa had fast lap of the race. ;) (Yeah, I know it came at the end on light fuel and new soft tires.)

Kind of too bad for the Saubers but cheating is cheating.

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

I starting watching the Indycar race and it has turned out to be a bunch of Demo Derby drivers out there. Good grief.

Great race for Vitaly Petrov filling in for an injured Kubiza. Lots of great racing back in the pack. I think I understand the DRS system, but how does the engine develop 80 more H.P. from the other system?

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

Side by side restart seems to be a fail.

i think it works. you just cull Marco and couple of others who make dumb decisions and bango you're fine. the last several re-starts worked just fine.

Dario was the class of the field today but big props to Charlie Kimball (except his rookie error) for a solid run until about lap 40, Simona, and TK

TK may win a race for KV this year, that would be sweet

Actually, isn't Heidfeld subbing for Kubica?

Indycar....I'll give the double file restarts 1 more race to pass judgement, but that this point it looks bad. The drivers need to take care of eachother a bit better.

Rant time.....The telecast was a load of crap. Danica this, Danica that. Then, on a restart, Power goes into the first corner 1st next to Dario, then a few corners later, he's 4th. On the next re-start, Power goes from 4th to 6th. HOW ABOUT A FREAKIN REPLAY TO SHOW WHAT THE %#@* HAPPENED TO HIM? COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially the first one, there was a pass for the lead, numbnuts, show it. Then, after the first round of pit stops, he's back into 2nd, no explanation (that's where in lap/out lap info is critical). The F1 telecasts are 100% superior to the Indycar ones. Alphablue, MattS and I could do a better job. I gotta send this to Miller.

Vitaly Petrov and Kubica were scheduled to be team drivers for Lotus Renault F1. After Kubica's horrific rally accident (requiring 7 hrs. of surgery). Vitaly became the #1 driver. Heidfeld is Vitaly's team mate.

We could do a better job! Definately send it to Miller!

The first thing we would fix is to not focus on Danica 75% of the time. Its one thing if she is top 5 or making some movement up through the field, but come on, even when she was dogging it in 17th they kept commenting on her. The only thing remotely interesting about her race was that I was surprised that her team had that many front wings to keep replacing them on her car. She must have gone through at least 4 of them.

The only good part of the whole ABC telecast was the last 10 laps when they focused on the TK/Simona battle. Of course since that was the only battle going on it was easy to focus on it. Kind of like the blind squirrel finding a nut.....

The scoring and timing and telemetry of the F1 broadcast is 100x better than Indy.

Simona really got screwed by the traffic during those last laps. Plus I think she should have used the PTP (push to pass) earlier. Had she got by TK, I don't think he had enough to try and pass her back as she caught back up to him twice after getting screwed by the traffic. It was hilarious that Danica was getting all that attention when she was sucking and Simona was kicking her ***.

I agree with you, the F1 broadcast team is very good. I can't compare them, as I don't watch Indy car racing much.

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

Ana Beatriz and Justin Wilson both broke their wrists in St. Pete. Beatriz will need surgery, Wilson will not.

Bernard wants to take advantage of an NFL lockout (if any) by adding a Monday night race in texas...now that's good thinking really. that's an opportunity to grab a sizeable audience looking for anything to watch on a monday in september or october

If you did, you wouldn't see all the passes for the lead anyway.
