Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

In order to have a fair fight, you'd have to give the NASCAR guys enough seat time in the open wheel cars to learn how to drive them. I'm not sure how long that would need to be, though... maybe as little as one practice session? Maybe longer?

Either that, or have a multidisciplinary race, some in NASCAR cars, some in open wheel cars, on road courses, city courses, and ovals.

I'd grant you that IF the media wouldn't jump on people like Franchitti for not winning immediately in nascar, while guys like Tony Stewart, JP Montoya, Jeff Gordon, and soooo many other open wheel drivers (be it indy or silver crown ,etc) ran and were VERY successful in nascar.

when the drivers crossed over in the 60's and 70's it was Dan Gurney, A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti who kicked *** not one guy from nascar had even remotely any success in an indycar.

and now the nascar guys are either too frightened of the speed and lack of fenders and a roof to try indy, they're fearful of failure or both.

It could be one or both of those reasons, but I think the main reason (or excuse if you want to look at it that way) is basically money. They just make too much money in Nascar to risk running and injuring themselves in an Indycar. There is nothing for them to really gain by it and I seriously doubt most of them could do a decent job in an Indycar anyway.

you're probably right about the $. But what I don't get is why don't these drivers aspire to be the best of the best. Even Dale Earnhardt can never be considered w/Foyt, Andretti and Gurney when it comes down to it. He only won in one discipline.

ok queen Danica, way to be classy (especially that comment about Brazilian drivers, w-t-f?)

don't let the door hit your ego on the way out

Bernard should tell Andretti to replace he immediately w/Wheldon for conduct unbecoming Indycar and for sticking it to Indycar while she's still in the series.

RB could fine her, I say go for it.

Also, I think since Helio's having a bad season anyway, he ought to get in her way and put her in the fence.

just a friendly love tap into the kitty litter ending her day, of course on a road course or street she can't drive anyway;)

I know you guys hate both Danica and NASCAR, but outside of a single word ("Brazilian"), the whole article was about her cup driving. And that single word could be relating to Nelson Jr.

Not sure how that relates to penalizing her in Indycar.

She's gone enough- lighten up. You are both reading FAR too much into that article, and how it relates to Open Wheel Racing.

Nelson Piquet Jr.? Has she even raced against him? had an incident w/him?

and even if she did one brazilian driver and making a quote like that is pretty...at best, weird, at worst, well bigoted.

She has spent the last 2-3 weeks freaking out in the media (as if this is contrived by nascar actually like "we need to spice things up" "phantom yellows" "exacerbate our rivalries" etc) about her impending taxicar move and I think it's really despicable.

I mean we don't see Prince Fielder saying "Man I can't wait to get to FA and get that $140-150 million contract" "I can't wait to wear the Yankee pinstripes", forgoing the final month of the season and playoffs in his outlook w/milwaukee.

or Greg Moore in 1999 " man I can't wait to race for Penske, they're such a class organization, they're so great, etc" - just ignoring forsythe and all the organization did for him

what she's saying about taxicar belittles Indycar, and she's got 4 races left to still, that's quite a bit.

So what if YOU think so. Just ignore her.

As you fully know, there's plenty of other things in Indy car that you can pay you attention to, things that you actually like.

And it's not as if she is making some contrived personal attack on you. She's just looking at the future, since that's what the press is ASKING HER about.

How you can stretch talk about closed car and not talk about Indycar being belittling to Indy is quite a stretch- to the point of wanting a penalty or someone to run into her is pretty amazing.

Oh, and Prince did say that he's probably not going to be in Milwaukee next year, shocking a lot of people in the mean time. So should someone bean him in batting practice?

Again, lighten up.

This Danica hate is more unconstructive to Indycar than her lack of comments directly about Indy car.

I'll agree to disagree here. If I lined up a new job and put in 2 weeks where I work I WOULD NOT be flaunting how great my new job is to my soon to be ex-boss nor co-workers.

and yes it is opinion. not everyone (or anyone at all) needs to share it

In the end, she's still a better driver that you are. ;)

Put her on
(a) Rt 128 or Storrow drive during Rush hour
(b) Washington Beltway - any time
(c) Against any NYC cabbie at any time/any day.

She loses.

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

Saw Senna this afternoon. Fantastic, just fantastic.

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2011, hurry, before we downsize your engines....

wow. Watching Motegi right now and I have to say if New Hampshire didn't etch Barnhart's epitaph in stone this race BETTER.

Kanaan gets a drive-thru penalty for speeding on pit lane, but Franchitti who in a fit of overzealous driving punts Briscoe off the track which takes out Rahal and Kimball as well (they were all able to continue) and he doesn't get a time penalty at all instead when he leaves the pits after full course caution he's told to fall back from 25th to 26th behind Briscoe. so no drive-thru, I just don't get it.

does Chip Ganassi pay Barnhart????

this inconsistency and also apparent favoritism to Franchitti is ****ing exasperating
