One City, Four Sports, Pro "Mt. Rushmore"

Re: One City, Four Sports, Pro "Mt. Rushmore"

DC:

Redskins: Gibbs. Some great players in the 80s too, but the lineup kept changing, Gibbs was the one continual presence.
Baseball: Walter Johnson. Not sure any of the Nats compare.
Hockey: Ovie? Don't want to go to the recency bias here, but a Cup and will finish as one of the top scorers of all time.
Basketball: Uggh. Wes Unseld? Has to be someone from before I was born because since the 80s it's been mostly crap. Heck, Iverson might count if you're willing to count his years at Georgetown.

And in terms of charisma, Kirby stands alone. Oliva had quite a little, for his day, but Carew had next to none.

Carew was pretty effing surly to be honest but he was the type of player that you didn't leave your seat when he came up to bat. I still remember the summer of '77 - AL MVP and nearly flirting with .400, the '78 AS game when he hit 2 triples, the '80 AS game he had a walk, a run, a single, double and a steal, 7 batting titles? Eff you Calvin Griffith!!

Re: One City, Four Sports, Pro "Mt. Rushmore"

Toronto

Dave Keon
Roberto Alomar, Joe Carter
Vince Carter
Doug Flutie, Dick Shatto

No one has done NYC yet?

Ruth
Bathgate (unless winning counts, then I would go with Messier)
Taylor
Frazier I guess

and from the teams which I regard as being the Trumps of sports :D
Seaver
Trottier
Namath
I don't think I could name a Nets' player

Detroit:

Yzerman, Barry Sanders, Joe Dumars, and Kaline.

Howe
Sanders - the only other candidate could be Bobby Layne, but it’s clearly Barry.
Isiah - he was the undisputed leader on those championship teams.
Cobb over Kaline. Greenberg and Cabrera have to be in the conversation. People do not realize just how good Greenberg was.

Willis Reed over Clyde
Billy Paultz for the Nets

Yeah, Gordie definitely gets it over Yzerman. GOAT-like status.

Thought about doing one for Miami, but there's no notable Panther and there's no notable Marlin.'

For Dallas, I'll say Dirk, Modano, Staubach, Juan Gonzalez?

No Pinball for the Argos?
It was a coin toss. Shatto was my fave as a kid. Last I heard Pinball is still in Toronto and has become a pillar of the community.
