Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

Like last weekend, police asked the province to close liquor stores four hours early in anticipation of huge crowds.

They later reported the crowds were sizable, but not as huge as the week prior. However, officers still wracked up 1,869 voluntary liquor pour-outs and issued just over 200 tickets to people consuming liquor in a public place.
So much liquor abuse.

They should of drank the liquor and paid the fine!

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

This 50k cross country skiing stuff just looks excruciating. Actually, any cross country skiing seems like way too much work.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

You realize that your constant mentioning of this is bad juju for the US team, don't you?

Its also so past reflective... Does anybody think canadians are queueing up the summit series for inspiration? No... they're drinking their stock of beer and breaking out the snacks.

Those idiots with "C-A-N-A-D-A" on their chests are only slightly less idiotic than the idiots who took off their shirts at Frozen Fenway. At least paint it on T-Shirts so you aren't standing outside for 4 hours with nothing on.

Idiots from both countries aside, let's just hope this game lives up to the hype!

Above all -- let's all pray that it doesn't get decided by a shootout.

QFT

I hate shootouts! (Although my little brother's team won in a pretty intense shootout last night haha)

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

Well - it's all over before the opening faceoff!

As patriotic as ever, Don Cherry, the colourful "Coach's Corner" analyst on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, sat down with CBCSports.ca in Toronto to share his thoughts on Team Canada's chances against the United States in the men's hockey gold-medal match Sunday at the Vancouver Olympics.

First things first.

Cherry's prediction: Canada takes it 5-3.

And he'll deliver that message to the U.S. directly, when he joins NBC's broadcast of the game

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

Wait, I just heard Al Michaels...is he doing the play-by-play?

That certainly would count as pulling out all the stops. But he is just doing pre-game and intermissions.

Edit: Go go hyperbole. "This is the greatest game in hockey history." -JR

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

This is NOT the biggest hockey game ever.

So, shut the hell up.

It's big. It's awesome. But it's not the biggest.

And I love Don Cherry.:D
