Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I see Paula Weston has given her annual Mike Comrie Most Likely to Leave Early award to Zac Dalpe.

Paula then states that Dalpe told OSU he would not come to Columbus if John Markell was fired. Now she has Dalpe leaving early. Does Paula know something?:D

With the Notre Dame loss to Michigan that leaves Lake Superior as the only team with a chance of passing us)

Good thing Northern has a reason to need and want all six points. I'd like to see a Northern sweep and ND win, that would bring the Irish here round one.

If Markell's gone and Dalpe wants to leave because of it I feel he would only be shooting himself in the foot as He'd be missing out on being part of something bigger and better than he's yet experience in his hockey career. RJ left early too and it backfired initially big time on what he thought he was going to do right out of college. With rare exception those who wanted to go pro did better staying the whole 4 years.

No way i want to see nd next weekend. They scare me i know they have a problem scoring but there is an awful lot of talent on that team and they can explode at anytime.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Paula knows how to blow her own horn and not much else.
She can't write a good honest piece, she editorializes everything.
Spot-on. Then again, her comment about Markell and Dalpe leaving meant at least she was finally writing about something other than her life; 'cause usually, Paula's CCHA Article=Paula's Blog. Zzzzzzz.

But let's suppose Dalpe really feels this way. Let him leave. The last thing the team would need under a new coach would be a talented head-case seeking vengance for a coach's firing.

That said, whether Markell stays or goes should have nothing to with Dalpe. Markell's contract is up this year. The team has a huge recruiting class coming in one year later. A new coach could get a big leg up on bringing in talent that reflects his style and philosophy right away.

If Markell's gone and Dalpe wants to leave because of it...

I wouldn't be happy about it but, I think the team is so much better off in both the short and long run losing Markell I think I could live with Dalpe leaving fro the NHL. I however don't believe for a minute that Markell leaving would influence Dalpe's decision as much as who is coming in to replace him.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I think I might be in the minority here, but if Markell is given another three years, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Twisted Wrister, you're going to laugh at me for asking, and that's fine, but are you an OSU fan or a fan of some other CCHA school (see Brewmaster's sig line)? :D

I think Dalpe is out of Columbus at the end of the season regardless of the coaching situation.

I have not been to many games this year for reasons other than the mediocre play on the ice. What I've been reading here is a lot of frustration, not much has changed in the past few years. A lot of promise. One decent year followed by a downfall. Repeat over Markell's tenure as coach.

What bugs me even more is if OSU gets home ice for the playoffs it's going to be in the ice rink, again. Thanks for showing your team respect by selling the arena to high school wrestling OSU athletic department.

I heard that OSU is big on Gene Smith not only for being able to sweep football issues under the rug but since he is on several NCAA committees he wields enough influence to keep the NCAA from telling OSU it's a no-no kicking the hockey team out of their facility solely because of the money a high school event brings in.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Schott is open for the first round of the playoffs this year. the wrestling tourney is the second weekend in March and OSU has no hopes of being home for round two.

Wrestling regionals are March 4 through 6 and the state tourney is March 11-13.

My bubble is fine. Thank you for the correction.

Ok I am putting out a Dirty Hobbit search alert.... Where are you man!!??

Wow, I was actually missed? Gee thanks! :o Haven't visited these boards since thanksgiving weekend, just caught up with all the posts. WHEW! Good to see all the new posters. Welcome to the winter of our discontent. Haven't been to a home game since Jan 29th, can't wait to have my 1st game back be a home "away game" with all the annoying Redskin fans. Ya know watching this game really makes me want to start drinking again. I should keep a six pack of Woodchuck Amber draft cider in the fridge for just an occasion like this. And to think I missed most of the women's curling gold medal match to watch this enthralling mediocrity. :(

Got my letter in the mail yesterday about the games next weekend in the ice rink (I really do perfer to see games there btw). Season ticket holders can call or go to the ticket office Monday to get their ticket package $20 a person for tickets all three games, everyone else can order tickets starting on Monday 10am. $10 per person per game.

Another night of uninspired play. The Buckeyes played an ok first period, not really pressuring the Hawks, but were able to keep the game at 0's. The second period saw Miami make adjustments(coaching) and then a total breakdown in the defensive zone for the next 20 minutes. The 3rd period saw the Bucks get a little life back in their step along with a couple of big saves by Heeter, but the Hawks dialed it back some too. Once again too many dumb offensive zone penalties.

Fight hard and earn 1 point should be inspiration enough to ensure they don't have to travel to the UP next WE.
LSSU wanting to travel out of the UP next WE should be inspiration enough for the Lakers to play dead.

Any firsthand accounts of the game last night? TV was ok but the announcers were brutal and you don't always get a feel for how the game is being played.

All I can say is we got " SPANKED. "

" GO BUCKS , GONE. " :D

PS. Coach called me and asked how he should play the next game on Saturday Night , and I told him " DON'T SHOW UP. " :D :o :D

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

From watching on tv i thought they played a really good first period on the road not many mistakes not much offense either but the score was where you want it to be. IMO it started to go south right after they tied it miami won a battle in the corner guys is allowed to skate off the boards and Flokes lets the guy get behind him for a easy tap in. I dont know if you can blame dusty much the defense didnt give him much help. I think they played hard up until the 3rd goal which went off sims hand they the hawks smelled blood and turned up the heat and took over. At that point the bucks folded heads went down feeling sorry for themselves. 1 point tonight gets 8th place and a date in the barn next weekend with Lake St. Suck it up and go get the hawks tonight and show then a 2nd round series wont be just 2 games of practice for them.

Eh, I think you only had 4 penalties for 8 minutes. Miami with 6 for 12. Refs just let em play last night.
