Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Just got back from East Lansing not a bad weekend for the bucks 3 points and a split thats about all you can expect on the road against the 2nd place team. I thougth they carried the play for big parts of each game showing us they can play with anyone in the country once again.

Im going to complain a little bit about some decisions markell made this weekend. First on Friday night with 6:39 to play in the game down 3-2 and a face off coming deep in the spartan zone he sends out the 4th line. With the tv timeout at the same time he could have sent back out dalpe's line or albert's line but instead he sends them out there. They stay out and michigan state scores the 4th goal that ends the game. Why are neither of your best centers out at that time?

His choices of penalty killers all weeknend long just killed me. One time tonight he had out there McNeil, Pickard, Folkes and Duddy. So you have out there a Freshman(who doesnt play much), Pickard(a 3rd line center), Folkes(a sophmore who doesnt play much), Duddy and McNeil who are not the best skaters on the team. Yes it worked out they killed there part of the PK but how do you have those 4 guys out there?

Ferris comes to town next weekend and a little revenge is in store for the bulldogs for that sweep up there in november. Once again the A game better be on the ice if they are going to get points. I figure they need to get at least 5 points on each home series and a split in each road sere if they want a chance at that first round round bye.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Not a fan of Markell in the least (totally bone-head leaving the 4th line out after that time-out on Friday), but that combination of Fowlkes, Duddy, Picard, and McNeil were responsible for over half of the shot blocks in the game tonight (8 of 15). Seems to me that was not a bad bunch to have out there killing penalites. Actually, I would bet that Brent sent them out and not Markell because I'd be surprised if Markell even knew who the penalty killers on the team are...

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

IMO that 4th line should not see the ice when trailing after the 10 minute mark. He would have had to make the change before the timeout. If he knew what time it was in the game and the timeout coming and still sent them out what a moranic move that was and it cost the team dearly.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Watched both games this weekend, along with many others I was able to pick up on dish, and the Bucks looked much more committed to team defense on Sat than they did on Fri. Fridays game had way too many breakdowns that led to great scoring opportunities for MSU. That and a little "puck luck", as Markell terms it, seemed to be the deciding factor. Give OSU and Carlson credit he made the saves on Sat when called upon and the team stood tall in front of him. On Friday there were many more prime scoring chances and re-directions for MSU. For my two cents from what I saw, team leadership and commitment were not there Friday night. Is that the fault of the upper classmen or the coaches? Hard to tell without being in the locker-room, but if as reported here Markell's contract is up at the end of this year maybe the AD thinks the problem lies with him.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

I don't understand the Head Coach either.

It was good to see the team get a split. :)

I see some of you have mentioned the Freshman forward McNeil. Nothing against this kid at all , but he has played alot of games and so far he has ZERO points. I blame the coach for his over-play. There are other players that are sitting out that have scored and can help the team.

Go Bucks Go.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Good series this weekend. The officiating was what the officiating was. But good on ya for getting the split.

Anyway... about those uni's. They are pretty sharp. Except for the silver zero on the front of all of them. The Flaming Zeros I think an OSU, or even a tOSU would have served them better.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Hey Guys,

How is Ohio State's online video coverage of the games?

Do they have Multiple Camera Angles?
Instant Replays?
Score/Time Graphic at the top?
Good Quality?

The reason I ask is because our local bars/restaurants play the away games on their T.V.'s for fans to watch. In the past, fan's have complained about the quality of the streamed games. Some are real good, some are real bad. I need to know if it's good, because if we promote this, and it is bad, then we will loose all credibility with our fans. At that point then noone will show up again, and we have just lost touch on the road.

Thanks,

Dom

The first part of the year they started out with Buckeye vision for all sports for $ 10 dollars a month.

Now they have contracted with Big Ten Network Internet streaming and they charge $ 2.99 dollars per game.

BUCKEYE VISION = This feed was ok. The camera angle was shot from high up in the arena. It was hard to see details on the jerseys and the ice.
They would use alot of camera zooming and it would blur the on ice close ups.

Big Ten Network ( Streaming. ) = This feed is very clear and has many good camera angles. Very good details and you can see the jerseys and ice.

I prefer the BTN feed over the Buckeye Vision. :) I have the Highest speed of Internet feed you can get for a home with charter cable. :)

Back to hockey talk. EH. :)

Ferris State is coming to town and wants to win two games. Can the Bucks put up a good fight or are they going to roll over and play dead.

Rankings don't always mean to much until seeding for the play-offs.

All teams have to prove there worth the rank each game.

I hope the Bucks are hungry for the wins. I go into the weekend games looking at it this way , nothing worse than a split. Get that first WIN on Friday and it takes the pressure off for a must win on Saturday.

I look at this series the same way nothing worse than a split. The guys should be out for some revenge after that saturday night collapse up in Big Rapids. My feeling is that no weekend can come and go without at least 3 points if they want to get a home series for the first round and if they can pull off a couple of sweeps and get help it is still possible for 4th place and a bye.

I hope the Bucks are having a good week of practice and are ready to score some goals. " TEAM-WORK. " :)

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Tough series this weekend. Hopefully the Buckeyes come out ready to play with energy and discipline both nights. Sweep possible? If they play to their potential I think it could happen. Most likely? Flat Friday leads to a loss (again  ) and Saturday they take care of business. (But I hope they find a way to steal 2...)

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Arpod ,

I hear ya.

I hope the team can pull out two wins. Two wins = 6 points and right now we can't afford to lose to many more points.

" GO BUCKEYES GO. "

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Very impressive win tonight. Took the early lead and when Ferris threatened in the third Boyd got the fifth goal. Heeter stood tall. Best of luck tomorrow night.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Nice job tonight. Played disciplined hockey for the most part. Supported Heeter early when he was a bit shakey and finished well (for a change). I was skeptical they would come out with the focus and intensity they would need to beat a very good Ferris team, but they did. I'm glad I was wrong in my prediction for tonight. Let's hope they keep it up.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

If things fall right tonight, the Buckeyes could be in a three way tie for fourth place. I believe going into last night games, OSU was 29th in the RPI, a nice win over a top ten team moved them to 30th.
