OK , Back to hockey talk. EH. :)

How do you think the Buckeyes 18 and over Team will do against the USA 18 and under Team on Friday Night ?

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

To be honest, and I am planning on heading down tonight, I expect the Buckeyes to win it. I'm not a hockey expert by any stretch, but it just seems to me that in a physical sport like hockey, older, more mature kids would have an advantage, wouldn't they? OTOH, the USA 18 & Under team will be better-coached. LOL, I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist getting that last line in there. :D

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Bucks win this one 6-3. It was 2-1 at the first intermission, 4-2 in the second intermission, then the Bucks got the first goal of the third intermission to go up 6-2 before the US Team scored to make the final 6-3. The Bucks did some good things. I walked up and got a seat on the board in section 107. There were only 2,018 there. I guess that's to be expected for a non-league exhibition game in the middle of the season. Good value IMHO for $11 a ticket. If your better half is working like BGSU96 was last night and you're flying solo, you can get a good seat. Jackets are tied with Chicago 4-4 early in the third period. Nice to see the CBJ actually scoring goals. Nasher has two goals today. Hopefully they can pull it out. They need the two points.

I watched the game on Buckeye vision. :)

It looked like the USA team was a little feisty, as they took some stupid penalties and liked to hit after the whistle blew.

Bucks , Bucks , Bucks = 6

USA , USA , USA = 3

On to see the spartans next weekend. Points are going to be hard to get from here on out so they better bring the A game everynight if they want a chance to move up and get at least a home series in the first round.

GOOD POINT.

The " OLD " saying is ; It's not how you start the season that matters , It's how you end the season that counts the most.

It's time to dig in and play like a team and fight to the finish for that play-off spot.

Clearly correct; no need to be humble.:)

Share this opinion with friends. Lots of friends.;)

I try to get others to come and $11 really is a reasonable price to pay to see a college hockey game at VCA. The problem these days isn't the ticket prices, it's the product being put on the ice. Let's hope that gets turned around. As one other poster alluded to, though, wins are going to be hard to come by with the remaining schedule.

Does anyone else find it odd that we still do not have anyone wearing a "C". a lot of "A"'s skating around, but no "C" that I have seen. Is there some message being sent, and if it hasn't gotten through by now, will it ever??

Fans everywhere love and support winners; that's a given. And it must be conceded that we aren't going to win a regular season title this year. So the "champs or nothing" guys won't be showing up anytime soon.

But at the BG series, we saw a competitive Buckeye team with at least two very entertaining forward lines. Even casual fans will easily get their money's worth at the Schott.

I fully understand that we aren't going to solve all of our attendance issues during the five home games that remain on the current schedule. Earlier in the thread I had a lot to say about those issues. This time my point was more limited. Just as you've said, Buckeye/CCHA Hockey is a good value. Fans with any level of interest in the sport should give it a chance.

Bottom Line? If we have to win fans over a few at a time, so be it. Value is one argument that can and should be made.

Re: Ohio State U. ( 2009-2010 )

Speaking of attendance.

That's the down side of having a pro type arena such as the Shotts that seats some 17,000. Even with a good crowd the arena will still look 3/4 empty. :(

If we had a arena that would only seat 12,000 then the arena would only look about 1/2 empty. :)

I'm new to the campus this year. What was the attendance like last year when the team went to the finals?

What was the attendance when the team won the Championship title in 2004 or 2005?

I found out yesterday just how good a value our tickets are. I was posting on another board and a Michigan fan who stops by regularly said the cheapest ticket at Yost Ice Arena is $24. Granted, Michigan puts a team on the ice that competes for National Titles almost every year, and their arena holds less than half of what VCA does. Still, even if our team is not doing that well in the standings, $11 is a great price compared to our neighbors up north.

The games this weekend against Michigan State will be tough. :)

This will be are first good test after the mid-season break , as the team were playing is in second place as of now.
