Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth 2/3 - 2/4

Re: Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth 2/3 - 2/4

The whole sport will miss her once she is gone. I don't think those outside of the WCHA really appreciate how great a player she is, because they haven't gotten to see her. However, there are 7 coaches in the WCHA that are looking forward to the opportunity to miss her.

Yes and yes.

Did she get taller this year? Dang.

I'm hoping she'll be wearing the maple leaf for a while after her college career, though.

But let's not forget that a win over one of the sport's great powers, especially on their home ice, is always worth having.
Agreed. I meant in the race for 4th only.

Based on comments she made earlier in the season, she doesn't seem intent on hanging her skates up any time soon. I meant only the college game will miss her.

Re: Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth 2/3 - 2/4

So does the NHL hand out a delay of game penalty if a team tries to send the wrong people out? Because in the college game, by the time the refs would get done checking replays (and many arena's don't have a replay available that would show all skaters on the ice), the team that iced the puck would nave been able to rest so the advantage would be moot.

That really should be a delay of game penalty, but I'm not sure how often it happens anymore? OSU seemed to be really good at having a bunch of players leaving the bench and coming to it all at once on every icing.. just to create confusion it seemed... easy to see tonight being between the benches shooting the whole game

Re: Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth 2/3 - 2/4

With regard to Home Ice for the playoffs, you're correct. The "smart money" will be on the Bulldogs, for the reason you mention.

But let's not forget that a win over one of the sport's great powers, especially on their home ice, is always worth having. Great job tonight, Buckeyes!

Also, unless there is a couple of major upsets the rest of the way, these two will be playing again in the postseason. Should give OSU a lot of confidence, even if playing in Duluth. If that series happens, I would like to see OSU making home to Duluth's locker room for the Final Faceoff.

ARM, thank you for the kind words about Natalie. I gotta agree with you ... the other coaches in the WCHA are probably looking forward to OSU being without her.

Skatefast, I believe you will be correct regarding Natalie wearing the maple leaf. I fully expect to see her wearing the maple leaf in Sochi at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Always makes it hard to root for my Americans in those gold medal games (LOL)! I'm an American dude all the way, but I find it hard to root against former Buckeyes like Tessa Bonhomme and Natalie Spooner.

Had a similar thought during the UND series. When I saw Spoon & JLam battling for a puck, I couldn't help but think: When this happens in 2014, who the heck should I be rooting for?:o:)

Overall, it's not an unpleasant problem. And of course the one thing I am sure of is that Tessa, Natalie -- and don't forget Emma Laaksonen -- will be Buckeyes forever, regardless of which country they represent in the Olympics. Obviously that list is longer when you count the other international competitions, and we know that the list will continue to grow.

I think that's the extra prize that we get to take home. These girls come from all over, we get to know them on and off the ice, and then we get to watch them play for their home countries where, as you have both said, you simply cannot take sides. It's a way better scenario than hating someone just for the sake of hating them because they play for the rival team.

Exactly! It's not a problem at all, in fact, I think it makes the Olympics more enjoyable, having all these kids to root for. And they will definitely be Buckeyes forever! You are correct about Emma, and let's not forget that we may see Minttu Tuominen also suiting up for Finland, as well as Lisa Chesson playing for Team USA. Annie Svedin has played in a couple tournaments for Sweden's National Team. Shoot, we could have six Buckeyes playing womens hockey in the next Olympic games!

Re: Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth 2/3 - 2/4

Spooner . . . has that freakish ability to find the 1/8" slot the goalie isn't covering to "bury it" in to!! Wow, there are not many adjectives that can describe how good she is. In a way she reminds me of Maria Rooth . . . that one player from the other team that you want to "keep quiet", becuase if you can't she WILL take over the game . . .

Thought the 'Dogs might find the equalizer late in that game but couldn't quite get their bodies into position . . . good games . . . not salivating at the thought of playing them again. Hoping though that they can do some damange to WI &/or MN . . .

I'll never buy you as some authority with superior knowledge of "the game" DS. Particularly the WCHA. Yet I'm sure there are many who could never dream of grasping "the game" as completely and thoroughly as the great...DS. Is there a particular team you support? Or is it just the team(s) that win on a given night? Or is it no team and you just troll the entire forum in ceaseless fashion? That last one's rhetorical DS. I know the answer but realize you wouldn't have been capable of discerning the rhetorical nature. :)

Ha! That's hilarious, you calling me a troll. You're the king of the trolls DA; you don't have any kids or any real connection with hockey you silly worm. You're a groupy, nothing more. I support all hockey development: I'm a former player, a coach, and have provided plenty of financial sponsorship over the years. You rip your team off. I have (kids) that PLAY, silly man. You on the other hand pretend that you're a hockey guy by spending your days looking up stats, compiling them, then spewing them on here like you have some sort of special ability with this common knowledge. Maybe if you had played or coached, you might have a little more credibility, but since you haven't you're blind to many aspects of the game. You think that playing with words gives you this credibility, but it doesn't.
DA, I have coached kids that play in your league, and others in the NCAA. What have you done? The real question that keeps coming around is why a hack like you has such an interest in the women's game to begin with. But oh yes, enough recent disclosure clearly answers this question. Rhetorical enough for ya?

Sorry for the late response DA. I had some hockey and life to attend to, as a parent. ;)

You really need to get some help...man. ;) :)

Didn't you mean to say "more sillier" worm?

I did consider posting more. I decided to leave your raging psychosis to be discussed between you and your overworked psychologist.

Hope this is of some assistance to you. As always...:)

My answer was too much for you obviously. Facts are facts I guess. Have a nice day, I have hockey to go to. Family thing. ;)
