Ohio State Buckeyes 2023-24 The Muzzinator Gonna Muzzinate!!

I do have home access to both B1G+ (Hockey Subscription) & BTN. It is annoying when BTN games aren't available in the B1G+ Library. But obviously programing the DVR can fully address that problem.

When a game is on regular BTN, it's isn't 'live' on BTN-Plus, but (with rare exceptions) it will show up at BTN-Plus available for 'replay' the next day.

(I used to say it would always show up, but somebody pointed out to me, on a volleyball chat, that a few Michigan volleyball matches aren't there. Why, I have no idea. I'm never gone looking for a Wisconsin replay that wasn't there. And the BTN-Plus archive of games goes back to pretty much their beginning. I've gone back to look at things as far back as 2015 or so.)

Got it; thanks for the clarification.

Since I'm mostly using B1G+ for Women's Hockey, the issue doesn't arise very often. But on the few occasions when it did, no doubt I was trying to time-shift to later the same day. Or maybe one of the rare exceptions arose. Going forward, I'll remember the next day possibility.

Sophie Jaques is now a member of the Minnesota PWHL team. And at least for now, she's roommates with Liz Schepers! Former Buckeye Clair DeGeorge is also on the team.

Note that Sophie goes from Boston to Minnesota as part of the first trade in PWHL History.

No one else has ever done that before or just OSU hasn't done that before? I know 1 team has for sure.

Both the Video & the Article make it clear that Nadine is referring to the Ohio State program.

As for the 1 team that has accomplished this: I don't know the answer, but I'll play along. Are you talking about Wisconsin during the Sara Bauer years?

All three of the other WCHA national champs have done it multiple times. Most recently Wisconsin in 2021; Minnesota in their undefeated year, 2013; Duluth in 2010.

OK; that's cool. We need to join that club!

Not that I'm going to lose any sleep over "missing the question." But obviously the undefeated Gopher team should have been my first guess. If you lose zero games, you've got all 3 banners. Heck, I was even at Ridder when Kelly Terry sealed that deal.

Ohio State flexed their muscles tonight in a 12-1 win over St. Thomas. Jenn Gardiner opened the scoring for Ohio State to put the Buckeyes up 1-0. St. Thomas' Maria Cooper scored a breakaway goal later in the period to knot things up at 1-1 and that's how the first period ended. Not sure what Coach Muzerall said to the girls at the first intermission, but the Buckeyes came out with fire in their eyes in the second period and put the game away with seven goals. Scoring for the Buckeyes in that second period were Makenna Webster, Jordan Baxter, Hannah Bilka, Jenn Gardiner, Cayla Barnes, Joy Dunne, and Sloane Matthews. The teams went into the final intermission with the Buckeyes leading 8-1. Ohio State was not done as they tacked on four more goals in the final frame to make the final score 12-1. Hannah Bilka scored the first and third goals of the period to complete a hat trick. Joy Dunne and Jordan Baxter scored the second and fourth goals of the period. Ohio State outshot St. Thomas 50-7 in this one. Buckeye netminder Amanda Thiele stopped 6 of the 7 shots she faced to get the win. Olivia King and Maggie Malecha combined to stop 38 of the 50 shots they faced for the Tommies. The two teams will wrap up their series tomorrow at 3:00 pm EST. For those who want to honor our Senior Buckeyes, Senior Day festivities will start at 2:00 pm EST.

Final Score From Friday, February 16th
Ohio State 12
St. Thomas 1

Celestial Display Or Space Oddity?

The players put on the Celestial Display. With apologies to David Bowie, this post may qualify as a Space Oddity.

Watching these explosive Buckeyes is like being launched into space. It's truly exhilarating. If you come to the Ice Rink for Pre-Game Staging, you'll see 60:00 minutes on the scoreboard clock. Commencing countdown; engines on. All a visiting team can do is bring their best defense, and may God's love be with them.

The Tommie 'D' initially held up pretty well. Scored tied 1-1 at the end of the first. Then came the second intermission. The Buckeyes took their protein pills and put their helmets on. The observers at Cape Buckeye got what they came for. Ohio State fired all of the guns at once and exploded into space. Were these Buckeyes Born To Be Wild? Not sure, but they certainly ran wild, posting 7 goals in the middle stanza. St. Thomas tried a timeout, but they couldn't slow down the onslaught. The Tommie Bench was blue; there was nothing they could do.

By the time we got to splashdown, the Buckeyes had scored four more goals to make the final 12-1. That set program records for most goals in a single game, and for largest margin of victory. You might say that the players boldly went where no Buckeye Woman has gone before. Muzzerall Control had to be pleased.

From Wapakoneta to New Concord, we're proud of our Buckeyes!

Three Stars Of The Game: Decidedly Unofficial & Just For Fun

Honorable Mention: (tie) Olivia Mobley, Ohio State; Stephanie Markowski, Ohio State; and Lauren Bernard, Ohio State
Friday's Buckeye Playmakers. Olivia contributed 4 Assists. Stephanie bagged 3 Assists. Lauren posted 3 Helpers as well. No one else matched those assist totals.

#3 Star: Maria Cooper, St. Thomas
Maria had the Tommies' goal, and it was indeed star-worthy. Face-off in the St.Thomas end. Jenna Buglioni wins the draw pretty cleanly. But as puck luck would have it, the disc glanced off of Jenna's right skate as she pulled it back. That disrupted the pull-back just enough to allow Cooper to intercept. From there it was all Maria. Brilliant rink long dash; fine top shelf finish. Cooper's first goal as a Tommie. Tommie Teammates retrieved the puck, and rightfully so.

#2 Star: Hannah Bilka, Ohio State
Hat Trick for Hannah! Silky smooth skating and laser sharp shooting all night long. Fine forecheck and pass by Jocelyn Amos set up the first of the three tallies. On the second, the Buckeyes lost an offensive zone draw. But that doesn't matter to a player like Bilka. From the left of the circle, Hannah swooped in and grabbed the puck anyhow, dangled, shot and scored. To complete the trifecta, Bilka finished off an inspirational shortie.

#1 Star: Jordan Baxter, Ohio State
4th Line Center Baxter and her linemates got the start. It was a harbinger of things to come.

For her first goal as a Buckeye, Jordan squeezed the puck just inside the right post. The Buckeye Faithful roared their approval. Deciding that she rather enjoyed this goal scoring thing, Baxter nailed the record-setting tally in the last minute of regulation time.

Hannah's Hat Trick was quite brilliant. It got the second loudest roar of the evening. Hannah probably deserved a #1A Star. But this was Jordan's night to remember.

Confidential To OSU Hockey Siblings: We all know The Seasons Roll. At least so far, this one also Rocks!

Up Next: Senior Day Festivities, When The Countdown Commences. Rematch With The Tommies At Lift-Off.

Today's game started off like last night's with a 1-1 tie at the end of the first period, but that is where the similarities ended. Unlike last night's game, which Ohio State won handily, the Tommies put up a good fight today and made Ohio State and its Senior Day Parents and fans sweat this one out a little. Give Coach Joel Johnson and his team a lot of credit for their bounce-back performance today after last night's game. St. Thomas got on the board a mere 17 seconds into the game on a play where no one seemed to know where the puck was. St. Thomas' Ella Boerger knew where the puck was and deposited it into the net for a 1-0 Tommies lead. Later in the period, Ohio State defender Cayla Barnes would tie the game and the two teams went into the first intermission with the score 1-1. The Buckeyes came out and got goals from Lauren Bernard and Kenzie Hauswirth to take a 3-1 lead into the final intermission. Hannah Bilka added a goal in the third frame to make the final score 4-1. Ohio State outshot St. Thomas 53-13 in this one. Buckeye netminder Raygan Kirk stopped 12 of the 13 shots she faced to get the win. Calla Frank got the start for St. Thomas and was amazing, stopping 49 of the 53 shots she faced. With the win, Ohio State clinched the WCHA Regular Season Championship and was presented with the Julianne Bye Cup. Up next for the Buckeyes is a road trip to Madison to take on the Badgers. St. Thomas will take on Minnesota State in a home-and-home. Friday's game is at Minnesota State, the Tommies will host them in Saturday's tilt.
