Ohio State Buckeyes 2021-2022 ... Destination: Happy Valley

Just screamed joyously at my computer. Felt a little foolish. But then I realized it was the right thing to do.

Awesome tournament. Thank you, Buckeyes. Way to go.

Same here! :D (big grin emoji)

As Bill Schepers would say, "HOW ABOUT THEM BUCKEYES?!?"

So proud of this group of girls and the entire staff!

Congratulations to your team on a nice comeback win, pgb-ohio. Even with a two goal lead after two I wasn't at all comfortable, and as it turned out for good reason.

Us Buckeye fans were not comfortable with your team having a two goal lead after two, either! Great comeback by our team, and congrats to the Gophers on a great season and winning the regular season title! Hopefully we both end up in State College in a couple weekends.

Props to Gophersports.com for already having a story and the box score out there. This game was a classic, and I would have said so if the Gophers had won instead of my Buckeyes. It was a great hockey game between two serious contenders to win it all later this month. After a scoreless first period, Minnesota came out firing in the second period and got a goal from Abigail Boreen to take a 1-0 lead. Late in the period, Peyton Hemp scored for the Gophers to put them up 2-0 at the second intermission. Ohio State came out in the third period and got goals from Sara Saekkinen and Sophie Jaques to tie it at 2-2. The Gophers nearly scored late in the third period, but Buckeye netminder Amanda Thiele made a brilliant save with her left pad to keep the puck from crossing the line. 60 minutes was not enough time to decide this one so the game went into overtime where Patty Kazmaier Candidate Sophie Jaques ended it with a power play goal for Ohio State, final score 3-2. Shots on goal were fairly even with the Gophers having a 33-29 edge. Buckeye backstop Amanda Thiele stopped 31 of the 33 shots she faced to get the win. Minnesota's Lauren Bench saved 26 of the 29 shots she faced. Both teams will hear their name called tonight in the selection show and will host NCAA Quarterfinal games next weekend.

Does anyone know if the regional games on Thursday and Saturday will be free? Can't find anything on the OSU website and the link on the NCAA website for tournament tickets just brings you to the Frozen Four tickets at Penn State.

Tickets for the Saturday 'quarterfinal' round in Madison have always been handled by the UW ticket office, and well before this. Even this year when it was doubtful but still possible for UW to be hosting, I got an email about a week ago telling me requests for tickets was open, etc. I signed up and got a confirmation (that will now go unfilled :-( ). By today, I'd be waiting for an email with the pdf ticket to arrive, or heading for the ticket office to pick up a ticket in person.

Also, for whatever difference it might make, you are not going to an Ohio State game; you are going to an NCAA game being held at Ohio State. Regular games at LaBahn are all general admission seating; NCAA games are assigned seating. Videos on the video board are NCAA videos. etc etc.

Good luck with finding tickets. But it sounds like the ticket office has been asleep at the switch.

Difference is you normally need tickets for Wisco women's games. OSU games are free. Also LaBahn has seats to assign. OSU Ice Rink is just bleachers so good luck assigning them haha : D:D

Admission to Ohio State women's hockey is free. There are no tickets, so, there's also no list of season ticket holders or even, generally, of those who are interested.

That had not occurred to me.

IIRC, from the video stream of their series vs Wisconsin a couple weeks ago, it looked pretty close to a 'sellout'. Maybe it's time for OSU to consider ticketing; tickets doesn't have to mean $$, it can just be for 'crowd control'.

(Even back when UW was playing in the Kohl Center and there was no chance that 16,000 were going to show up, there were still tickets.)

I find it amusing that the cheapest tickets in the WCHA are Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Ohio State, in descending order. They are also the three smallest rinks, in descending seating capacity. Caveat: I didn't make it to a game at St Thomas's arena this year, so the preceding may be out of date.

I definitely hope they announce something regarding tix even if it’s just a general placeholder type, although I can’t imagine NC$$ runs these games at no admission fee even if host doesn’t. As others said they’ve been close to capacity for some games and you hope full capacity is the case here. hope they announce something soon.

Blue Jackets gave some publicity to the women winning yesterday, on Twitter, and even more exciting they are sponsoring a U14 Girls AAA Blue Jackets team next year. I believe it’s the first program of its type in the area. They did a video advertising it and Muzerall was in it briefly speaking to the need for girls hockey programming and facilities in Columbus. Absolutely fantastic news and enough cannot be said about what Muzerall is doing for girls / women’s hockey in the area.

St. Thomas sells tickets for $5. My season ticket costs $49. These are bleacher seats also. There are much better high school arenas in the Twin Cities metro area, by far.
Not the best arena in the WCHA, but they are looking to expand their sports profile. They recently tried to purchase the nearby(to campus, not the arena) Town and Country Club golf course. The school administration is willing to put money into this hockey program, and I see it becoming a formidable rival to the U of M across the river. Joel Johnson has coached the U18 games and has as good a chance of getting topnotch recruits as anyone.

It's been a few years now, but I paid more when I last attended HS games.

I have been to women's games at BC in the past where they charged for NC$$ quarterfinals including the OSU 2-0 win there a few years ago. Normally all women's hockey games at BC are free. I've attended all of BC's home NC$$ quarterfinals dating back to the Noora Raty debacle in 2011 and I'm pretty sure they charged admission for all of them.

Good to cross paths with you. It's been a while.

This is Ohio State's first time hosting this particular event. But I'm confident your memory is correct, and that the "precedent" will apply. As others have noted, this is an NCAA Event, not a regular season home game.

My grapevine says it will be $8 for adults & $5 for students. Hope the marketing catches up shortly.

Tickets are available on Ticketmaster. Just ordered Mrs 86 and I a pair for both games. We are hoping to say hello to former Buckeye Claudia Kepler Thursday. For those who are not aware, Claudia is now an assistant coach at Syracuse. And you are spot on regarding the price ... $8.

PBG - Best of luck to you and the Buckeyes this weekend. I'll be at the Northeastern game then back home in time to catch all of the OSU game. Does Maltais plan to return to the team next year? She's quite the talented player.

That is the plan, and I sure hope it works out that way. I've thoroughly enjoyed following Emma's career. For her to play another season in a Buckeye Uniform would be awesome.

As for Saturday viewing, my day will be the mirror image of yours. View the Northeastern game @ 1:00; then head to campus for the Buckeye game. Hoping & presuming I'll be able to see a replay of the Gopher regional final (3:00PM Eastern), one way or another.
