Ohio State Buckeyes 2021-2022 ... Destination: Happy Valley

It has been on the uptick, both with a changing of the times and the advent of the portal, but I think the presence of the extra Covid year caused an extra surge this year. And then in women's hockey, specifically, you also had all of the RMU kids who needed a new home.

Excellent point, three of our transfers were RMU kids.

Muzzy is a very good coach, but 7 or 8 transfers is a little much. Northeastern had two transfers too and UMD had Giguere. And I think even Yale had one. Kudos to OSU. DeGeorge was something.[/

To me, more than any other women’s hockey couch, Muzz approaches coaching her team as if they are a paid professional team. The transfers are an example of this. It was as if she was building a team through a draft last year rather than recruiting. I would not be surprised to find out that she saw this year as their best chance with the other teams likely losing more Olympians than OSU so she went for it. For example, when WI is back to full strength next season, I don’t see OSU beating them for another Natty title. And I do not mean that as a knock on OSU; I just think Wisconsin will be that good.

I think UW is a year away. I have been formulating my initial thoughts on next year's team in my rather empty head, I will post soon on the WI thread. I don't want to hijack the tOSU thread, let them bask in the glory. It's an amazing feeling.

An FYI for Buckeye fans (and others who might have missed the game, etc.): over the next week or two, ESPN will do replays of the championship game on ESPNU or elsewhere and at 'spare' odd hours. In case you were in the building and want to see/hear the broadcast, or try to capture the video stream, etc.

Right now, the one I see on their schedule is Tuesday night, 7 PM (CDT, I think) on ESPNU. But they could add others, later.

Congratulations to The Ohio State University Buckeyes! And most of all, to osualum and pgb, who stuck it out through thick and thin, and then some more thin. Your patience has been rewarded.

Ditto. I know the feeling when your team wins it all.
Thanks to both of you, and Timothy A as well. It does feel great to join "The Champions Club." Pretty exclusive group.

Yes, I feel great for the tOSU Posters. I hope Hockeybuckeye was around to see it as well.
I noticed on another thread that he posted a brief request for a link to view one of the games. Or perhaps a family member posted the request on his behalf. It felt like he was well enough to watch, but not well enough to join the conversation.

As before, this is uncomfortable speculation on my part. Again, if anyone has more solid news, please post or contact me privately. Either is fine.

Thank you this. I've got it on my schedule.

There are quite a few thing in that special game that I'd like another look at. To say nothing of the interviews that aren't shared with the in-person audience.

Thanks Timothy A! I was well enough to stream the game on my phone. I've been hospitalized since the first week of December but it's not the cancer.
I contracted COVID and because my immune system was weakened from the chemo it ravaged me. The doctor called my wife and said to bring the family in now to say goodbye, I wasn't going to live through the night and was on a ventilator
BUT I BEAT IT!!

That brings a little tear of joy and a big smile to my face! Such great news. Rest up, get strong and I look forward to some non-hockey chats this offseason.
