Not even close. I can understand you posting that, but this is only Coach Oz's second season, so let's let him get a couple more recruiting classes in here before we start labeling him as = to Markell. If we don't make the NCAA Tournament this season, I have to believe we will be in the hunt next season with all these guys back, along with another recruiting class. The only disturbing trend here is that this is the second season in a row that we have had a second half meltdown. Too much talent on this team for that. Thankfully, we got off the schnide tonight with a big 4-3 win in Kalamazoo against a very good Western Michigan team. We really needed the three points.

Haha, is hell freezing over tonight?!? Actually, I am not shocked that Ohio State won. This team has too much talent. We all knew this losing streak would end. We had just hoped it would end a few weeks ago. Let's hope this gets the guys going. It will be a happy bus trip back to Columbus tonight for the boys.

Well finally a victory! I have to say I didn't have a good feeling once Western took the lead in the 3rd. The guys dugdeep and found a way to get a win that was needed in the worst way. Now back to at worst 5th place going into the bye week. If results go their way next weekend 4th or 5th is not out of the question. Turning the Puck over has become such a bad habit in this slump but I want to give Western credit this weekend for causing a lot of those turnovers. The pressure Western puts on with their forecheck is relentless.

Yeah, finally a win... and a bye before Miami. Oh boy- could work two ways.

OK, it's no secret that my dislike for all things ohio runs high but I'm glasd to see you finally get the monkey off your back and win a game in 2012. Congratulations.

We've been there, this year too, not sure if you recall but we had an 0-6-1 stretch.

It'll be crazy & intense for a lot of the teams these last 2 weeks coming into playoffs especially with the Lakers losing tonight to Alaska.

Pretty sure that Michigan will get the #2 seed. While it's still possible, I don't see us catching Ferris. So the top 3 are basically set: 1. Ferris, 2. Michigan, 3. Western. After that I haven't looked to deeply into the schedule/standings...

Best case scenario for next weekend results:
Michigan sweeps northern( that puts the bucks just 3 points from hosting the 1st round)
Western sweeps Lake St.( keeps the lakers behind the buckeyes)
Alaska splits with the spartans
ND and Miami Split.


Those results would give us this
Ferris 53
Western 48
Michigan 47
Msu 41
Miami 39
ND 39
Ohio St 39
Lake St.38
Northern 36
Alaska 33
BG 19
This would give the buckeyes a real chance to host with the 4 seed or even get a bye and have to go on the road.

Worst Case is that
Northern gets 3 points from michgian
Miami or Nd Sweeps that series
Michgian state sweeps alaska(which is more than likely going to happen)
Lake state spilts at Western
Assuming ferris sweeps bg in this too(not that it affects the buckeyes.)

Standings would look like
Ferris 53
Western 45
Michigan 44
Michigan st 44
Miami or Nd 42
Lake St. 41
Miam or ND 39
Ohio St. 39
Northern 39
Alaska 30
BG 19

This would make it very diffcult for the bucks to even get up to 5th place. If its miami with the 42 points they would have to sweep them or at the very least take the series 5-1. If its Nd with the 42 that would almost assure the bucks of getting no higer than 5th because ND and MSU play that last weekend so catching both would be impossible. Then with lake state and northern playing that last weekend it gets tricky they have to get 2 more points than the lakers to pass them and get as many points as nothern does to stay ahead of them. Right now they are locked no lower than 9th and can get as high as 2nd( not likely but possible).

Thanks for the effort it took to compile all that Klbaum! If we end up hosting a first round series I was hoping since OSU now manages Nationwide Arena they'd bite the financial bullet and place us there but there's a concert scheduled that Sunday so I guess it would be back to the old barn.

What the HECK? The team wins a game and I find this topic on page three!!! LOL. It never made it off the first page when the team was down & out. I did check the win & loss records for the first half of the season & it's not like the team was SMOKIN everyone. They had some nice come from behind wins and some games they barely won. " GO BUCKS GO. "

Are you saying our men's team will be relegated to playing a first-round CCHA playoff series at the OSU Ice Rink?!? Are you kidding me?!? What am I saying, this happens all the time. Sure is going to be disappointing finishing 6th out of 6 teams in the Big Ten Hockey Conference in the future because the other five schools make a legitimate commitment to hockey and we don't. OUCH.

Yeah, the old rink. The Chiller's don't have any more capacity than the old rink and the only other place that can make ice that has any capacity is the colosseum at the state fairgrounds and they're always hosting state basketball playoffs at that point in time so that's why a first round bye is so important so we can actually have HOME ice. BTW the Columbus Dispatch is up to their usual crap. Got a lot of negative press when the guys were struggling but now that they broke the losing streak - not a word! I'm beginning to dislike Ray Stein, their sports editor as much as Gene Smith!

I wouldnt mind going over to the Barn once a year if it werent always a for playoff series. The schott hasnt hosted a playoff game since march of 2005 against BG and the Buckeyes have hosted a series in 06,08 and 09 since then.

It is nostalgic for us but demeaning to the team for playooffs.

Danny proved at UNH he doesnt care about the team, such a waste of talent. At least he didn't wait till the NCAA's to screw you guys over
