Regardless of the outcome of this weekend's games I saw some good positives. The sloppy passing and puck handling was gone, they were going to the net hard instead of constantly shooting from the perimeter and were making good effort on beating the other team to the puck along the boards. What hurt us this weekend Friday I thought Brady was off in his game in net and bad turnovers in our defensive zone. Saturday it was our old nemesis the penalty. I thought the zebras call a decent game Friday but were horrible Saturday. A lot of weak calls against us and non-calls against the Spartans. I saw Krough take an elbow to the head knocking him to the ice and no call and twice as we started a PP they'd instantly call one on us. We were getting called for crap while battling for the puck along the boards but the Spartans got a pass on the exact same stuff!

I would agree with everything you said expect the passing on the PP and the PP itself is a joke right now. They are looking for the prefect shot and when they cant get it they are shooting right into defenders. The opposite is happening on the PK they are not getting in lanes and shots are getting through that were not in the 1st half of the season. Here is to a good week of practice and hopefully a Win or 2 at Western next weekend. Anyone making the trip up? My wife and I are going up from toledo.

Yes the PP and PK defense are probmatic yet. Too often have I seen weak clearing attempts trying to defend and not being aggressive enough on going after the puck letting their opponent work the puck freely with disasterous results. And when shooting on the PP they've been bouncing the puck off the skates of the defender right in front of them. Got to thread the needle boys! How many times have we sent the puck across the crease only to have the easy open net goal evaporate because our guy fanned on the puck? But I still think they've been making strides in getting their game back and this is just one of the last parts of it to come together.

The question now becomes ... what does this program do in the offseason or next season to ensure that we don't have a second half meltdown for a third season in a row? This season is all but done and will likely be a non-NCAA Tournament season. A non-NCAA Tournament season will not be acceptable next season. There won't be anymore "young team" excuses as 19 of the 28 players will be sophomores and juniors, provided there isn't any further attrition. Hopefully, they figure out the second-half meltdown stuff. That is a disturbing trend.

To save this season they are going to have to win 3 of the final 4 games plus at least one round of playoffs or just get to the Joe and that might be enough to save the season.

Agreed, but having that bye week gives the teams close to us a chance to go ahead or widen their lead.

That bye week sure does come at the wrong time for this team. But they still have a chance to get 6 points this weekend and force miaimi to win 3 of their last 4 games to pass them.

I thought the play by play guys on the web streaming the week before said he had an ankle injury but I could be mistaken as I wasn't really paying attention at the time.

From what I gathered yesterday, he was out the 2nd game at LSSU with an injury and is now suspended for a violation of team rules. I guess Osiecki made the comment in the postgame presser Friday that he "didn't know when or if" he would be back, and that they sat down with the team, coaches and an administrator to decide what to do. Only other thing i was able to find was some post on twitter where someone said that the knew what he had done and that it was a serious violation, but didn't feel comfortable saying what it was. Hopefully someone will hear through the grapevine what the deal is. Wish this was still the early 2000's when I was still at OSU and was able to get the inside dope.

One big difference between when Markel was here and what it's like under Osiecki is under Markel there was not much discipline and the guys were pretty open with what was going on, now they're pretty tight lipped. It seems Osiecki is a proponent of what happens in the locker room stays in the locker room. The guys either respect him too much to go against this or fear the consequences.
