Ohio state " buckeyes " 2011 / 2012 season.

Re: Future Outdoor Games

The guys also have to get their on ice awareness back. After the game I overheard someone comment on a observation that I saw as well. All game long as we would bring the puck up the along the boards as we approached their blue line 3 Ferris players would converge on our guy with the puck and more often than not leaving some of our players coming up the opposite boards uncovered. A quick across ice pass an we have someone with speed & momentum coming in on net unopposed! I can't believe they were oblivious to it time and time again as that is a play which is a staple in Michigan's playbook and they execute it well.

I also noticed that there were many offsides due to players passing to others at the blue line. Some passes seemed to be made behind the player or at there feet.
What about line combos? How the hell can they get any scoring when the lines are different every game and changed during the games!!!

Re: Ohio state " buckeyes " 2011 / 2012 season.

The good news they scored 3 goals. The bad news defensive breakdowns and a bad change cost them as they have the last 3 weekends. I saw some signs of life tonight but again stupid mistakes were costly, Geding getting beat wide in the defensive zone(when he could have pinned the bulldog player to the boards) caused the first goal, a awful change caused a short 2 on 1 for the second goal and another breakdown on the Pk. I dont understand why all weekend they continued to dump the puck in the ferris zone when most times ferris had 2 even 3 guys already in the zone. they were giving up the blue line and ohio state could have carried the puck in and went from there. They did go to the net better than they have in the last 2 weeks but still not good enough for me. They played for the most part 45 good minutes of hockey but this game is a 60 minute game and untill they figure that out its not going to get any better. Off to Lake St next weekend and they will not be a happy bunch of guys either. you know they will want some revenge for that sweep in december and being at home they seem to play pretty well up there. Lets hope the guys can use the things they did right tonight and carry that up there this weekend and begin to turn this ship around.

Re: Future Outdoor Games

Aaaaaaand, we continue to be 0-for-2012. I just wonder how many more losses in a row this team will have before they hit rock bottom and start playing better. I guess the silver lining (if there IS a silver lining ... I'm really reaching here) is that even after being 0-for-our-last-six-CCHA-games, we are still in first place. If we don't pull our heads out and start winning hockey games soon, that will disappear and we'll be down to second place or lower. One more thing (LOL), none of you really talked me off the ledge. I take that to mean you're all out here on the ledge with me (haha).

Wow I guess you guys were right, ferris was no slouch.

I was a little shocked when I got the score updates.

I'd say it was more Ferris capitalizing on what we gave them. Most of their scores were on PP's and though some of the calls were legit some were not and that's due mostly I'd say to Wilkins who has a LONG history of questionable calls against us. We also still have not got our sync back that we had before the break as you Michigan fans saw firsthand last weekend. We had some defensive mistakes that cost us but I would say on the positive side Saturday's game showed a lot more effort & hustle on our part than shown Friday's game. Back to baby steps I guess but like the Wolverines the Lakers have an ax to grind against us from the season's first half so if we don't get it together quickly it won't be pretty.

Wilkins strikes again. FWIW He hates EVERYBODY, or he's just incompetent. Michigan is 2-1-3 in games he has officiated this season, and none of them have been without catching the ire of either team/fanbase.

Based on what I saw last week, though, I'd say it was more about what Ferris did and what OSU didn't do versus how Mr. Wilkins influenced the game.

People may notice I post more of what I don't like than what I do like and Mr.Wilkins is definately in my negative column. I agree that OSU still could and should have controlled their own destiny this weekend but when they aren't performing as well as they should calls can influence a tight game. In the many years I've watched OSU hockey it just goes without saying you get a feel for who officiates a good game and who just calls crap every time they get your game. Now I will be fair and say some of the calls were deserved but it just seems without exception a number of his calls on average are more controversial than his zebra brothers. Also when the majority of calls are made by him and not the other ref that also is suspect of which of the two is doing the better job of officiating.

Ever notice that they all look like ants when you look down?

LOL, Ok, I am off the ledge now. Thank you, Hockeyebuckeye! And yes, they did look like ants when I was on that ledge (haha)! Can we get a sweep at Lake Superior, now? We could use the six points!

Wilkins made every penalty call in that 2nd period on Friday night and then his partner made that bogus holding call that led to the 3rd Ferris goal last night.

Now I wasn't at that end of the arena when Ferris made their last goal but from my perspective all I could see was a big pile up in the net area and it looked like Heeter might have been interfered with but I don't know for certain. What did you see?

I was at that end and i dont think they interfered with him it was more of a scramble for the puck and it squirted out the back end and there just happened to be a bulldog right in that spot to lift it over cals pad.

Thanks, I was just wondering. The only difference not knowing for certain is I'd either complain if it was and cry if it wasn't. lol!

Re: Future Outdoor Games

I was more upset with the call that led to the goal.
Yeah, you could tell from the look on our guy's faces after the whistle blew that they genuinely believed that they felt on a number of the calls they weren't guilty of the infraction but thankfully knew enough not to protest too much and get a game misconduct.

Anybody heading up this weekend? My back hurts just thinking about all that time in the car!

If i knew the weather would be ok i would make that trip but ill sit this one out. This should be the last 2 games i miss other than the game in Miami. Tickets are just way to hard to get down there.

I hear you on the Miami tickets, perhaps they should have built a little bigger?
