When Ohio State scores 4 goals in a game they pass out coupons for free McDonalds french fries. After the Buckeye's 4th goal tonight the entire student section right behind the Lakers goalie shouted out in unison "HEY KAPALKA! THANKS FOR THE FRIES!" lol!

I thought the first period was really good and after that the lakers made it very tough for the buckeyes to get much going. They controlled the neutral zone for the last 40 minutes for the most part but i did like the way ohio state battled in the corners and in front of there own net. Cal was solid again as usual. You know tomorrow the lakers are going to come out and try to build on what they did in the last 40 minutes they dont want to get swept out of here and be 9 points behind ohio state.

I really needed to read this after tonight's 6-3 loss to Edmonton. Thank you. Sure would be nice if the CBJ would learn to play 60 minutes instead of 40. The Jackets had a 2-1 lead going into the third period, then decided to take the third period off.

Yeah, excellent point! If we keep this up, there won't be a first-round series! We need to come out and finish this the right way tomorrow ... with a sweep!
If we play well enough we won't have too worry about that first round at the Ice Rink
Crowds always improve as the season progresses. And winning can't hurt.

Well, we got one tonight! We'll see if we can complete the sweep tomorrow night. Love the way this team found a way to win 5-2 even though they didn't play particularly well.

Yeah, they looked a little rusty in some aspects of their game but there again they didn't play for two weeks so I think by tonights game they'll look more in sync.

Looks like the team got their Christmas gift from the Columbus Dispatch today - a story! Good sized one too with photos, but it was rather buried back on page 8. Wonder when they'll get the next bone thrown to them?

This was frustrating. Especially after an amazing effort in the third period at Calgary. It was kind of neat to see Ryan Jones get his first career hat trick though.

I'm the first to wish we had our 'own' place and think it's ridiculous that we get kicked out for high school wrestling BUT it's our own fault. OSU a few years back moved the wrestling championships back a weekend so that they Schott would be open for the 2nd round of the CCHA playoffs. We're the one's who never seem to finish in the top 4 and GET the first round home games. Hopefully that changes this year.

I've had a burr up my butt for some time about that wrestling tournament. 1 - against OSU for doing it, 2 - against the NCAA for allowing them to do it. If the NCAA was really about protecting the sports and athletes they would not allow a school to kick their collegiate team out of their own facility for a high school event!

I thought the teams matched up well tonight. The Buckeyes didn't get the fast start they had last night and I think the main factors for the win tonight was Cal Heeter of course and home ice advantage. As far as next weekend goes Miami is not the team they were last year (neither are we
) I think we'll do well next weekend but how great would it be to keep the sweep streak going especially if we can take one from Miami at Goggin?

It wasn't pretty, but after watching us split series like this time and again in past seasons, I will gladly take any sweep and a six point weekend anyway we can get it! Let's keep it going against Miami next weekend! I love how hard this team plays regardless of the situation or the score. The athletic department sure made a great hire with Mark Osiecki. It's obvious all these kids are tuned in to what he wants done out there and how he wants them to play. The sky is the limit for this hockey program. I really believe that.

You know at the last season we had a couple posters who claimed to be OSU supporters but were very negative on Coach Osiecki and the house clearing he did. Now that the team is on a roll and the Coach is showing how he can get things done his way they are conspicuously absent which doesn't surprise me.

Its always great to get a sweep! this team is scoring goals in the dirty areas that we havent seen in a long time. I though Lake St. did a great job tonight of imposing there will on this game and made the buckeyes work very hard to win tonight. It was very important to answer their goal right away. On to Miami and with them ggetting swept this weekend we will see the best of them im sure next firday night. It would be nice to push them farther behind.

Ohio State is now #1 in the pairwise rankings! I've watched the team since their inception but does anyone out there with a better memory than me recall if we ever held that ranking before?
