Ohio State 2024-25 Domination of the Portal Queen!

Jenna Buglioni and Kiara Zanon scoring goals last night. Nice to see the early work in Sweeden continues for the Buckeyes.

Wow, that's awesome. What a great opportunity for women's hockey. To have the ability to showcase their high-end product on that stage! Fantastic. OSU vs. WI womens hockey is turning into the battle of the decade. I'm definitely taking my daughter to experience that face-off. GO BUCKS!!!

Dress WARM!! The wind chill and lake effect in Chicago in winter makes a January Browns gane in Cleveland seem like a spring gane.

I can't believe that Wisconsin gave up a home game to play this game. Muzzy wins again.

I would think both coaches would see elements here to make them unhappy, balanced against the benefit of "showcasing the sport", etc.

Wisconsin is giving up a home game, and what is a significant home ice advantage.

Ohio State has to go on the road two weekends to play a single game, as opposed to going on the road once to play two games. Extra costs, extra wear-and-tear on the student-athletes.

There's one day off between the Buckeye/Badger games: January 2nd in Madison; January 3rd Off; January 4th in Chicago. In other words, an extra day on the road; not "two weekends."

Having an open weekend in mid-February isn't ideal. But I don't see any extra cost or wear-and-tear.

One of us has bad information. My source:

That's an element of the series the Muzzinator couldn't be unhappy about. In recent years with how intense the OSU - Wisconsin games have become and critical for those conference points home ice is obviously a crucial element.

I didn't realize the entire series had been rescheduled to January. I assumed the mid-February date was still valid for the other game.

Playing such an important series as your first games back from Christmas break is also not "ideal". And playing it is God-only-knows what type of weather is also not "ideal".

I like nothing at all about this.

From a "friend" who is connected to our program.

They wanted the two best teams in the country to showcase. OSU and WI have created the best rival in womens hockey. The WCHA doesn't have a say its the BIG TEN... MJ and Nadine could have said no we're not playing but that would be an awful decision and would look very bad on the school. I know both schools are beyond thrilled to participate in such an experience. When your the best in the country this is what happens.

Understandable mistake. Forgivable mistake. Nevertheless, it is important to nip scheduling misinformation in the bud.

You're not wrong about the downside of the actual plan.

I like nothing at all about this.
But I'm guessing that when you see how excited the players are about the Wrigley game, your opinion will mellow.

Got to talk to Coach Muzz at the 18U and College Selects showcase this weekend. Really pleasant to be around and we saw some great hockey. That 18U National team is going to be filthy next season with all those quality 08s and 09s on the roster.

She really gets around. One of the reasons she's built such a successful program here is Ohio State has no problem sending her anywhere she wants to go whenever she wants to scout and recruit. I assume her alotted travel budget is massive.

OSU womens hockey will have the ability to offer more $$$ than all the other D1 womens hockey programs in the country. Fantastic for OSU WH. Bad news if your not OSU.

Here's a link to a story on what the NCAA settlement means at Ohio State and our response to it. I find it disturbing the part of we will lose about 150 student athletes due to roster caps.

As troubling as the 150 fewer athletes part is the statement that some varsity sports will look and act like club sports. I wish they had given a whole lot more detail on both of those.
