Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

I hear ya. I just want the BUCKS to be a hot team come playoffs. Eh.

I want to see us improve as the season goes on, not regress like the last two seasons. Mrs 86 says Hammond is doubtful so we may see their backup goalie. As for playoffs, as others have alluded to, we need to pile up wins. I want to see us playing in that regional in Toledo next March!

BG's town paper says Hammond is day-to-day. Bergeron said the pretty much the same thing in his weekly press conference. Zacharias (Jr. goalie) did not make the trip to Colgate, but the coaches considered getting him there for Saturday's game. They decided not to and went with freshman Burke.

I was hoping my boys would start the season with the same fire they had at the end of last season. I haven't seen or heard it yet.

Got the win!
What a great goal right off opening faceoff only to have it killed by a whistle happy zebra!
What I didn't like tonight was I don't see us racing to the puck along the boards with the same energy we showed last season and our passing still needs to come together.
What I did like is we're finally setting up the slapshot on the PP's and we were trying to make some hits tonight but it seemed every time we put a good one on somebody we got a penalty for it. Video quality too poor to tell if they were warranted or not.

First impression of this team for me is they might not be that good right now but by the end of this year they will be pretty good. I thought the forcheck behind the net was better than i have seen in a few years. They might not be fast but they sure do stretch the ice alot better than i have seen in a long time. That will make opponents think twice about pinching Defenseman. The PP might not have scored a goal but I like what i saw tonight. They moved the puck side to side and set up that slap shot as mentioned below. The defenseman at the blue line did a lot better holding the puck in the zone than they did last year. I wish they would have finished chances better but a win is a win. Brady had a pretty good game he was square to the shooter most times and left some rebounds but not to many in dangerous spots. The defense has to go a better job of knowing where the backside players are to many times they let BG players get chances on that could have been avoided. Looking for a sweep tomorrow night!

Yes the defense didn't collapse right off the bat but they did get flustered once in the 3rd and drew a needless penalty, still much better overall than last week!

On defensemen, no Krogh or Gedig in the lineup tonight...injuries or healthy scratches?

Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

I'm not sure if Senior D-Man Krogh has played a game yet this year? Something don't seem right with that!!!!

Wasn't able to get to the game so listened to it on the radio. On the post game show Steve Rohlik mentioned the two were injured, but that was all of the details. No discussion of when they might be back

Wow guys lots of comments on the defense, Krough got hurt in Duluth Gedig hurt in Quinnipiac. This crew of defense has been pretty solid especially without these two guys. Since the opener against Duluth, the team has only given up 5 goals in 4 games (not counting the empty netter in quinnipiac). They have played under a ton of pressure when you consider we have not had any cushion to play with Cudos to Hjelle who has responded like we need him to. Hope I dont jinx them tonight.

Hockeybuckeye No penalties in the third for either team last night.

GO Bucks!

I said 5 points is a must in this series, well i will take 4 points.

4 out of 6 points , Eh. Keep Hjelle in the net. He looked alot better than Olson this weekend. The Bucks are really starting out most of there games slow. Need to play 60 min win or lose.

I didnt see tonights game to comment on Olson but I thought Brady played pretty well last night. We will probably see the rotation at least until the end of November.

I certainly hope these CCHA refs don't carry over to the B1G. I couldn't believe that two nights in a row they killed legitamte goals with a quick whistle. Puck coming down out of the air like a foul ball and the BG goalie standing on the left side of the net trys to make an outfielder catch and it goes over his glove to land square in the crease and we get the easy tap in only to have the zebra think it's in the goalies glove! Made me sick! Would have won the game if it counted!

Last nights disallowed goal was pure laziness on part of the back official. The puck never went back into the ohio state zone off of the face off. It went forward and that official should have been in the right place to see that the puck was loose.
