Re: Ohio State 2013/2014 - Third year in Oz

I would expect the rotation to continue as well. We might see Olson on Friday night this weekend. How long we see the rotation i would guess atleast through november would be my guess.

In regard to goalies, would you liken the goalie in hockey to, say, a QB in football? By that, I mean, does the coach have to pick one guy and stick with him? In football there is an old statement ... "If you have two QB's you have none." Can the same be said about the goalie position? Based on your post, you think Coach Oz will have decided on one of the goalies next month?

I think eventually yes you have to chose one or the other. If you have 2 goalies then you more than likely have none.

I noticed, having been to some games, that on the OSU Womens Hockey side of things, Coach Handrahan appears to be going with Chelsea Knapp in goal exclusively this season after rotating her and Lisa Steffes for most of the season last year.

Two future Buckeyes, Nick Schilkey and Zac Stepan both named to the US team for the World Junior A challenge next month.

I had a very cool experience today. I flew with the team to Baltimore they went on to Hartford I went on to North Carolina for business. I told Coach O that I was a season ticket holder and we had a nice little conversation and I wished all the players good luck. They were appreciative and thankful. Go Bucks!

Nice! Were you able to get out of him who's starting in net? lol!

That is so cool. Thanks for sharing. I have tempered my expectations for this weekend. If we split, I am fine with that. Just don't get swept! I like THE OHIO STATE's formula ... get the Friday game, then the pressure of getting swept is off Saturday and you can play looser in going for a sweep.

Just dropping by this thread because I'm going to the game at Quinnipiac tomorrow (cheering against the Buckeyes, sorry!).

Anyway, there have been NCAA champion teams that rotated goalies all the way through the playoffs, so it can work. Just depends on the exact personalities involved - every situation is different, and the coach has to be able to know how to get the best out of *all* his players.

Enjoy the game, but of course it's always more fun when one's team wins. Our goalie situation is a senior vs a freshman but the senior rarely started in his career and I'm feeling the freshman has the better skills but the question is how well developed are they yet? If one's defense is stout then it minimizes the pressure of who do you start.

Now BOTH links are showing what klbaum saw, no hockey listings. Hope they are back up and active by gametime!
